Bonaire Newbie - Budget Place to Stay and Dive?

Not that I'm aware of. As I indicated in a prior post, they are very rare on Bonaire. In fact personally I've never ever spotted one although have seen pictures. Anyway, you would be wearing a full wet suit, no?

Bonaire Newbie - Budget Place to Stay and Dive?

Also, forgot to add..This calender may be of some interest to you.. Has to do with phases of the moon and anticipated arrival of jellyfish. Notwithstanding it's produced in Hawaii, it's still the same moon..;) July Box Jellyfish Arrival Calendar for Hawaii 2012

Bonaire Newbie - Budget Place to Stay and Dive?

Fortunately the BBB is rare. hint..when snorkeling every few feet however make sure you look straight ahead and are not consistently looking down. With respect to the Man of War, generally you will not see any. However the probability is much higher if you're snorkeling on the lee (west) side...

Bonaire Newbie - Budget Place to Stay and Dive?

Well personally, I'd recommend that you bring a portable surge protector before plugging in your laptop/ camera recharger. No need to buy bottled water on Bonaire. From the tap is fine since it's distilled by reverse osmosis. CC would be the way to go, ATMs are available if you need extra cash...

    Bonaire Beaches

mahjong..There are some natural soft sand beaches on Bonaire located on private properties, but they certainly can not compare with the long stretches found on Aruba, Coz, Grand Cayman etc. So if you're looking for a comparable beach on Bonaire you're not going to find with the same caliber as...

Suggestions and places to avoid in Bonaire

So right!! The last dive we do EVERY trip is the night/pre dawn dive..At a point midway through the dive, you turn off the dive light & moments later see the first stream of the Bonairean Sun as it penetrate the upper level of water. It is indeed a magical time to be U/W.!

Suggestions and places to avoid in Bonaire

Umm..Sorry but appears to be a disconnect in your posting.."I'm a poor student on a budget" and "Harbour Village Beach Club has a decent package". Harbour Village is to my knowledge THE most exclusive resort on the island. So if you can afford it, I say go for it. Otherwise I'd direct you to...

    Where would YOU go?

Several things.. Do a night dive right off the dock at Buddy's and for a different experience an early A.M dive (enter about 06:00 when still dark). Don't forget to make several trips on the boat over to Klein. Advice...take your time & go slow. Been diving Bonaire's reefs over 25 years & rest...

Bonaire Review - a Dad & Son adventure..

Nice report Lakeman & thanks for posting. We return to duchi Bonaire in about 4 weeks & can't wait to get back to la isla bonita. Last time we were on island was 6 months ago. Much too long to be away! I however prefer the diving down south to the northern dive sites although my favorite is...

    Bonaire Recommendation?

Well unfortunately there's really no way to get a taste of what Bonaire diving is really about in one day. So my advice would be to try a couple of shore dives during your 1 day visit & then book a stay on the island of a minimum of 1 week. Next month we're down for 3 weeks and as usual can't...

What's the best way to enter & exit from shore?

Pembina..All good recommendations here. However I think the most important aspect to diving Bonaire's shore is to carefully choose your dive sites. They vary in the degree of difficulty entering and exiting. You may want to purchase Susan Porter's book on dive sites which rates the sites. As a...

    Bonaire

Dying to try "the new" Cappriccio's when we get down there in Feb! Seems like the gastronomic enticements from restaurants to grocery shopping at the new Van Tweel market have been elevated on the island. Two months & counting..:D

I am happy to report that “something” is eating lionfish off Bonaire

That indeed would be excellent news! Anyone visiting Bonaire, PLEASE do NOT ever order grouper if you see it on a restaurant menu. These fish belong on the reef, not on a dinner plate.
