Sogod bay - southern Leyte Q's??

My Wife and I, together with my two kids are going to spend some of our christmas break at Sogod Bay. As at the moment, I can't recommend the resort where we intend to stay, namely "kuting resort", as this would be the first time that we will be going there. The reason why we're going there in...

    own versus rent?

For someone who has never used anyone else's regulator (yup, showed up for my first OW swimming pool training/session, with my own complete scuba gear, including regulator and dive computer plus I would always carry a spare regulator during dive trips), I may have no right to express my opinion...

    dive computer with integrated compass

Since I use the compass of my Galileo Sol, for general direction only, I would say that the same performs quite well. Love its wide screen features. Easy to read

    Thermalution heated vest

My wife and I are also planning to buy the same in anticipation of the colder days to come, as well as our scheduled galapagos trip. However, considering the cost, which is $770, we are also interested to hear some feedback from those who have actually used the same. Anyone?

Difference between Apeks XTX200 & Apeks XTX200 Tungsten, and which to get?

I both own a regular apeks xtx200 and an apeks xtx200 tungsten. apart from the cool exterior finishing of the tungsten, there's no other difference between the two. Even the cost of the annual regular servicing is the same.

    Is this worth it?

I bought a salvo myself. What I'm interested in also is, considering that the manufacturer is no longer around (read somewhere that Salvo was sued by Halcyon, if I'm not mistaken), and has halted operations, is the availability of parts in case it needs to be serviced.

is this a good dream set up ??

The apeks xtx 200 is good only for a maximum of 40% nitrox. For higher blends, you would need to buy their different model which is colored green. Love my galileo sol as i own one. However, it may not be able to meet your requirements for tech purposes. there are dive computers that are...

    S/H Gear

word of caution, please check with your local dive shops if they can service the tusa regulators before buying them. Otherwise, you might end up with buying something which you cannot use or might be expensive to maintain.

    pt-043

If you know anyone who's going to Hongkong, or Singapore, you can buy that pt 043 housing there. Bought mine in Hongkong sometime March of last year. Went to Singapore last November 2009 and saw them on display in a lot of camera/electronic shops.

    Long Hose for Atomic T2x

Bought an Atomic T2x last November 2009 plus an extra T2x 2nd stage which I intend to use as an Octopus from a LDS. Likewise placed an order for a long hose (Atomic Brand) as i find the standard yellow octopus hose short for purposes of air sharing in an emergency situation. When the Long...

    DSS BP/W First Time User

both of my two previous BP/W set ups have zippers, and the reason given to me by our LDS is to enable me to remove the inflating tube inside, and once the inner inflating tube is removed, i can rinse the salt deposits that over a period of time accumulates inside the outer housing, which (as...

Choosing the best (for me) BP/W setup

you can't go wrong with a DSS kydex backplate, and it is the way to go especially for travelling purposes. no need for an STA, it is lightweight and the wing designs (the 17 and 26 torus) are the most streamlined (so lesser drag underwater) among other brands. For travelling purposes just...

    DSS BP/W First Time User

Durability wise, I know a DM who has done at least 800 dives already in his DSS and his wing is still working fine, no leaks so to speak. Considering however that the wing does not have any zipper with which to remove the inner inflating tube and wash whatever salt deposit accumulates inside, I...

Go ahead, brag about your gear set up..

My DSS Kydex BP with 26 torus wing. - streamlined design, lightweight so ideal for travelling also Atomic T2x - relative ease in breathing Henderson Gold Core wetsuit - because of the gold core lining that provides ease in donning (while dry) and had more tendency to prevent water from...

    whats the difference

Here in our side of the world, the preferred brands are apeks and scubapro for their relative ease in breathing and most of the LDS here can service such brands. Been using apeks xtx 200 regulators but recently bought an atomics T2X and now prefers to use the latter more often than the other.

    DSS BP/W First Time User

Good choice! Did you get the 26 torus wing? My DSS is the third BC ever since being certified. Was never contented with my two previous BP/W. compared with other brands, it is the most streamlined designed. Although i cannot offer much tip as i've never known the difference in using a...
