    Atomic Regs..who has them? Likes/dislikes?

Been using a regulator brand with an excellent reputation, until I noticed that atomics breathes more effortlessly and so I bought an atomic t2x. My wife likewise tried it out and so I also bought another set of t2x for her. So far, we never had any issues with our atomic regulators and in...

    Japanese diver missing in Anilao

Just curious lang. What particular dive site? Is it the house reef of Sun Beam/Aquaventure? If so, just wanted to ask lang the general profile of that particular dive site (i.e. what's there to see) as I myself have never dived that spot despite four years of regularly diving in Anilao...

    Your Regulator of Choice?

Started with Oceanic then moved to Mares (can't remember the particular models of both brands). After trying out an apeks which was lent by an LDS, then bought apeks xtx 200 which was subsequently replaced by an apeks xtx 200 tungsten. Was extremely satisfied with the performance of my apeks...

    First Time Equipment Purchase

Showed up during my first pool training session with a complete set of "brand new" diving gears. Not just the basic mask, fins, snorkel, booties and wetsuit, but including the BC, regulator and a dive computer, all brand new. After 4 years of diving, the only thing left is the mask and...

Alona Beach, Bohol municipal dive fees & more - get ready to pay

heading for Bohol latter part of March so I guess I'll be one of those hit by the new regulatory requirements. Frankly speaking, I don't mind paying so long as fees collected really goes into the purpose for which it is intended to be collected in the first place. If its really for...

Philippines- Is Tubbataha too difficult for a Novice diver?

So long as you don't have any buoyancy issues and can very well maintain your buoyancy at any given depth, has a dive computer to monitor your depth and stay within the no-decompression limits (since all the dives are no-deco and majority of which involves wall diving, the bottom of which are...

    backplate in carbon fiber?

Instead of scouting around for a carbon fiber backplate, I think the kydex backplate manufactured by Deep Sea Supply would meet your requirements. Its what me and my wife are using, especially when travelling.

    Help!

Try looking into the possibility of booking for any of the liveaboards doing the tubbataha runs. Its the best in Philippine diving.

too many great resorts to choose from, confused!!

3 days in Planet Dive will suffice. You could already cover pretty much all the best diving sites of Anilao during that period

    Backplate comfort

I used to own an apeks (with special harness and comfort padding), and an OMS (with backplate padding). My assessment? the padding is not really necessary and can be done away with, even if you're just wearing a rashguard.

I want to buy Atomic reg but are they really noisy?

I own an atomic T2x and never had any issues with it. In fact, I already ordered online another set for my wife, and at the moment awaiting its arrival. If you were to ask me what regulator would I buy? I'll definitely vote for an atomics regulator over other brands

    Buy Now or Wait?

Another thing, don't get sucked in by the sales pitches of the LDS you'll be visiting. Try out rented BCs first and dive often and look into what the other divers are using and get their feedback as well. Also, remember that the most expensive is not necessarily the one best suited for you...

    Question about Regs / advice

since you'll also be travelling, and will be using the regulator for both cold and tropical water, I would recommend apeks for availability of parts and more number of service centers anywhere in the world.

    resort with good house reef

+ 1 for Planet Dive, Anilao. Twin Rocks (which is a marine protected sanctuary-and the best at that in the area compared to other MPA namely Arthur's and Cathedral), is just a shore entry dive site if you're staying at Planet Dive. Accomodations are cheap but don't expect a luxurious type of...
