    Peacock this weekend

We were there later in the day too on Saturday - probably got in around 3pm or 4pm and did a dive up the Peanut line a ways. It was definitely a bit of a fuster cluck with the class sitting more or less in the entrance to P1. Might have chatted with you for a few minutes as I remember talking...

    Santa Rosa Blue Hole Cave

A shame about Morrison! Lots of debris/rock/sand would have to be moved to open up Morrison

Cave Diving Backup Lights / Rechargeable Batteries

If you could get a backup light in a similar size to current form factors with the punch of some can lights so that if your light goes out, you're still able to communicate and signal with your team, navigate your way back through the cave, and ultimately be safer, you wouldn't consider that better?

Cave Diving Backup Lights / Rechargeable Batteries

Do you want a better/brighter light than you can get with your alkaline battery powered light is the better question. If the answer is yes, you'll probably need to go LED with lithium-ion rechargeables

Cave Diving Backup Lights / Rechargeable Batteries

Just have an extra 18650 battery... Isn't it the same as having extra AA batteries?

Cave Diving Backup Lights / Rechargeable Batteries

Regardless still way brighter than my Dive Rite LED Can Light. Also a tighter spot. Check out the Explorer II backup lights on Cave Adventurers website Cave Adventurers - Explorer back-up lights - Marianna, Florida USA - Never Undersold!

Cave Diving Backup Lights / Rechargeable Batteries

Zero issues with a few lights from Cave Adventures powered by the 16850 rechargeable batteries. They're also 1200-1300 lumens and are way more powerful than my old Dive Rite LED can light that's likely around 800 lumens. Batteries last around 1.5 hours

    Buford Springs directions

Don't follow the location from Google Maps, go to the start of the Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area. Continue straight on the main dirt road, take a right at Rattlesnake Road, then take a right on Three Bridges (or something along those lines) and then you should see a sign for diving...

    Deep 6 Can Light

Has anyone used the Deep 6 can light? Currently listed on their website for $499 with original price of $1,199 (discounted 58%?). Was curious how these compare to other can lights out there, UWLD, Halcyon, LM, Dive Rite, etc. Here's the link: Deep6 Backmount Canister Light

    Light shootout

Was this test/comparison ever completed? I'm curious as I'm thinking of buying a new can light.

Lost Backup Light in Ginnie 11/1

Hey all, I lost a backup light today at Ginnie. Went in the Ear, did a main line dive to about 800 ft, and exited back through the Ear. When I got out I noticed I had a bolt snap without a light. The backup light is LED, black in color, with Expedition written/engraved on it from the...

    Frustration moving into/towards tech

It seems to me throughout this thread, the points you've been hung up on the most are the pass/fail rate and the rigidity of the gear. I'm not sure how those relate to your PADI analogy of here's an outline, now go teach it or why you think GUE employs a similar methodology to course design...

    Frustration moving into/towards tech

@jlcnuke Your thoughts on pass/fail rate being the outcome that separates quality training from crap training seems to be flawed in my humble opinion. With Kirkpatrick's Taxonomy on Evaluating Training Programs in mind, I want to focus my evaluation of dive training at the Behavioral and...

    Katana 2

What is the lift of the Katana 2? Can it support bigger tanks?

    Ankle floats?

You actually said the opposite. You said a properly weighted diver should have trouble descending with an empty tank. I agree with the quote above that you shouldn't have trouble staying on the surface if properly weighted either. I also agree that if you are properly weighted that you should...

You missed some of the relevant parts there.

    Ankle floats?

I liked most of your post but I don't agree with the last line. I personally believe that a properly weighted diver should not have much trouble descending with an empty tank/500 psi. If you can't VERY easily kick down with an empty tank then you are not properly weighted in my opinion. In fact...
