    Spare air

That last sentence scares me. Actually, the first one scares me too, but you are a Dive MASTER and don't understand how ambient pressure effects your first stage and available air? Please tell me that isn't what you meant. Joe

    Check out these clips

The problem is that all you have to do to clip into something is push against the gate. It would be very easy to have a piece of gear attached to you with that or a similar clip and if you accidentally brush against a line, wire, piece of netting... it can clip to it without your knowing it...

First time shopping at the LDS. I didn't do well, lesson learned.

It is a service economy and what the LDS did WAS provide a service. The employee spent time making sure all of the items fit correctly and were what the customer wanted. Some of those fittings the customer may not have even been able to do correctly on his own, like the mask. It basically...

    500 psi on the boat?

Those people do not belong in the water diving. If I am incapable of tying a knot or doing a single pullup, should I go rock climbing?

    Salvageable documents

You could always place the documents into a water proof container, such as a safe, then have the safe recovered and opened on land. Could even be something like a small wall safe from a state room. I kind of doubt those would actually be designed to be water proof, but you never know. The...

    New Gizmo, Valve Knob Tool

I wouldn't let it bother you too much. Unless you have something else for this purpose this tool is great. The only one I've seen that was better was made from a chisle that had the notch ground out of it and the blade dulled a bit. That was a lot bigger though and would not fit so easily...

Failed OW for Breathing Too Much; How can I fix it?

What a strange thread... PADI. The musical comedy about a heavy breathing crack addict and his desire to dive.

Is there any trade in program for older DiveRite canister lights?

I am the official canister light disposal center. All lights being disposed of for any reason should be sent directly to me to use...errr...dispose of, properly. And to answer a common question, yes, I will even accept your newer and still working HID lights. ;) As an added bonus value, I...

Failed OW for Breathing Too Much; How can I fix it?

:confused:100 what? PSI? Cubic feet of air? Penguins? If PSI, then what sized tank and over what period of time? :dropmouth$80 to rent a wetsuit?!?!?!:dropmouth I've purchased them for less than that.

Rust inside tank and O2 level

"Near deadly"? If I recall correctly, you need 18% O2 (at surface) to support life. Anyone breathing that would at least be unconscious in short order. I'd think at the point where the %O2 got that low the tank would be unusable because of the amount of steel that would have been effected.

    Underwater Weddings

I looked into that for my wedding this November. I know for a fact Royal Caribbean does not do that and was told by the company that it is a myth that the captain can perform the wedding. The cruise lines will arrange the wedding at one of the ports but it ain't cheap. From about.com...

Help Attaching SMB to BC please, need idea's!

Roll the bag up, clip it to your right chest D-ring and then use a piece of bungie or surgical tubing around the shoulder strap to hold it in place. When using this bag as a lift bag, be careful. The dump is in a horrid place for a lift bag. It is actually only a over pressure valve. You...

    dry suit buoyancy

The drysuit dump valves weren't designed to be used for buoyancy control. They dump air far to slowly to stop a runaway ascent and you get left with pulling open the neck seal and flooding the suit as one of the only ways to stop it. The BC was designed to vent air faster. It isn't uncommon...

    spare air advice

I don't quite get your point. Obviously they were in trouble before the emergency ascent. That is what makes it an emergency ascent. My contention is that whatever preceeded the emergency ascent could have been avoided or fixed by any of several previous decisions. If poor air planning was...

    New Gizmo, Valve Knob Tool

I got mine today and must say it is perfect. Small enough for any save a dive kit or even to use as a key fob. Wide handle area will give plenty of leverage to tighten or loosen. Thanks again Tobin!

    spare air advice

First of all it was in response to "I'd rather be bent on the surface than dead at X feet". Ending up bent was their choice/words, not mine. Secondly, I was just reading an article in diver magazine about a DAN study on diver deaths. 26% of all the deaths in the study involved an emergency...

    spare air advice

The logic is faulty. Out of all of the options available, several of which include safe, controlled ascents or even never even running out in the first place, the two of you are HAPPY with being bent on the surface? How about monitoring your air supply and never running out of air? How...
