    E7-120

If the extra few inches and weight don't bother you then seems like nothing wrong with the E7-120 to me. At least compared to the E8s you don't have to adjust your cam straps. Just got my E7-100 from Fed Ex a few minutes ago. Unfortunately the store said that it was the last one they...

    favorite underwater character?

Just for fun, who is your favorite fictitious underwater or ocean related character? For example, such a character could be a fanastic creature, superhero, villain, mythological person or beast etc. Mine, obviously from the avatar, is "Black Manta," Aquaman's nemesis. That was one cold...

    E7-120

My guess is that people like the idea of the smaller size, negative buoyancy, and more air of the e7-100 when compared to an Al 80. The e7-120 is a little longer than the al 80. Maybe for average divers the 100 just seems to be the best balance of more air + decent size and weight. Then the...

Answer: a drake Question: Are foxes known more for being cunning, vicious, or beautiful? Side note: since nobody answered my question "who is my avatar" I'll tell you that it is Aquaman's nemesis "The Black Manta." Didn't any of you watch "Superfriends??"

    Why do guys do it?

Zoe, If you do not enjoy their flirting, and you consider it to be disrespectful to your relationship then here is my suggestion. You should be able to enjoy your time with your boyfriend without that discomfort. On the occasion when one of them flirts tell that person in no uncertain...

new to board from Salt Lake

Welcome to the scuba board, I have learned an awful lot here! I swan in the Salt Lake once too and there was nothing to see but the brine shrimp. I was surprised to see even those. Well, I guess there is the black, foul smelling crusty mud. Though the ultra-buoyancy was an interesting...

Increase in Scubapro Pricing pending(?) and SP MK 16 vs Mk 18

Hello, One of the shops is Ocean Enterprises. You can contact them at (858) 565-6054. I have only seen them sell the mk18 during their big tent sales that they have a couple of times each year. They may or may not have sold all of them. The other one is Diving Locker at (858) 272-1120...

Increase in Scubapro Pricing pending(?) and SP MK 16 vs Mk 18

Hello, I have the Mk 18 and appreciate the swivel and additional high pressure port. For these reasons I preferred it to the mk16. I have seen new Mk 18s at two different San Diego dive shops. Both times they were offered as parts of promotional deals thus the prices were pretty good.

    Jet Fin Fit?

I wear size 11 shoes and have jet fins. I tried several pairs of booties and mostly hard sole booties wouldn't fit in them all the way. For me the henderson hyperstretch booties (hard sole) fit well, snug but not too tight. A quick spray of silicone helps, but is not necessary. Some other...

Warning for Monterey Divers (especially women): Beware of Fred

It definitely seems like a pattern here in that he approaches only females, or couples. When we went my wife was a bit underweighted (or overinflated -- our first dive post certification), and had a hard time getting down. I went back up to help. By the time she descended, we ended up...

To dive in Long Beach & La Jolla, CA - Advice Needed

For a night dive I would recommend La Jolla Shores, or Marine Room (not to far from the Shores, in front of the Marine Room restaurant -- you can get information from Divebums.com). I have only been diving for a year, but pretty early on I felt comfortable enough to try diving the Shores at...

halcyon cam straps (do they damage steel tanks?)

Thanks for the Diver's Direct tip. I ordered the tank! They said it was the last one they had in stock. Jersey Chris, what do you do about the scratching? Is it just superficial, so you are not concerned? Is it paint being scratched, or do you have one of the PST hot-dipped galvanized...

High Pressure vs. Low Pressure Steel?

I just ordered the PST E7-100. Thanks for all of the input! It was hard to find one of those in stock somewhere. I am looking forward to getting it, then getting out and diving it! The overall weight/buoyancy characteristics and the finish of the E7-100 are what convinced me to go for that...

Buying Gear at your LDS VS internet!!!

I know the shop too (just moved from San Diego). I have a free air card there, but I don't think that makes a big impact on how much they make from me. I have gotten good customer service there so I keep returning. If I can then I'll go there for the free air, though I don't always since it...

Thanks for the input and advice. Now the only problem with the PST E7 100 is finding some place that has it in stock!

halcyon cam straps (do they damage steel tanks?)

Hello all, I have a Halcyon B.C. with those cam straps that have metal buckles. They are really secure, and overall I am happy with them. But I have only used them on rental tanks. Now that I plan to buy a tank soon I am concerned about that metal scratching the paint of a steel tank (one...

High Pressure vs. Low Pressure Steel?

Thanks everyone for all of the information. It's quite helpful, though having more options and understanding the set of trade-offs more still makes it not totally easy. Right now the best sounding tanks for me are the (along with what I gather are advantages/disadvantages): PST E7-100 --...

High Pressure vs. Low Pressure Steel?

Hello all, I am looking to buy a tank but I am unsure about the advantages and disadvantages of high pressure vs. low pressure steel tanks. I want steel so I can take a little weight off of the belt. Also, I want to probably get a steel 100 since when my wife and I dive 80's I finish my...
