Hello,
I figured I'd follow up on this thread that I started. I had a chance to examine some other PST E-series tanks and it seems that the discolorations on my tank were the same as those on all of the others and is just a side-effect of the hot dipped galvanizing process. That was good...
I would like to report that Halcyon's customer service was very helpful in taking care of this issue. They didn't gouge me on the price for replacing the wing and were very prompy and responsive in taking care of the issue. Puncture isn't covered by the warranty, but they didn't take advantage...
Thanks for the info. Now I've got some research to do! It sounds like I should definitely be able to find her something in the price range. I'll take your advice and get something that is a nice, compact size too. Yes it will certainly get used more dry, but I think she'll have a lot of fun...
Hi all,
I am thinking about a Christmas gift for someone and I have considered getting an underwater digital camera. I guess it is even better if it is useful as a point and click camera out of water too. I don't have a huge budget, but I am wondering if there is something out there for...
I think that the PST E7-80 is a very nice tank. Lighter than the Al-80, and also shorter. It also has the same width so you don't need to adjust your cam straps. There is a lot on the scubaboard about the durability of the hot-dipped galvanized finish too.
I never used a non-integrated hood, but I use a custom two-piece with a 7mm full suit underneath and a hood integrated 5mm shorty on top. I have never felt cold water down my spine in this suit, and I have never been too cold diving in San Diego or Monterey.
It probably takes a bit more...
Thanks for the advice everyone, for Jonnythan it's not the first time I've appreciated his input. Probably the warranty will not cover it, but I'll still check in for Halcyon's suggestion too.
The holes are pretty small so there seems to be a good chance for repair. My plate seems to be...
Hello all,
I need to know what to do about this occurance. It is upsetting, because I just finally bought my last piece of gear (tank) and it was my first dive with no rental equipment. I am not really ready to buy whole new wing, so this could derail my diving for a few months until I am...
I didn't really feel very nervous about much of it, I was just excited to go out there.
I can tell you what the scariest thing was though...getting overconfident.
I felt early on like my buoyancy control was pretty good, and I kept pushing the limits pretty quickly. I didn't realize that...
The idea I have right now is just to get some vinyl stickers and just build up a layer a few stickers thick right where the bands mark the tank. It is not the most aesthetic solution, but it should work okay and I'll find some stickers that don't look horrible. Even just something that is...
It's really culture and context. Some people use "girl" as the feminine counterpart to "guy." In the past it was "gal" but that seems to have fallen out of use (at least people I know do not use it). So then it is a casual way to refer to a woman. Still, a lot of people feel like this is...
As a San Diegan, 1998 was a lot of fun because I moved to New York City that year. Sure, the Padres got swept, but Tony Gwynn hit that home run and it was fun to see my home town vs. my new city at the time.
I agree with Moonie, it's better than the last 5 seasons! It's kind of ironic (or...
It may depend on where you like to dive too. If you dive in warm water, a slightly ill fitting suit may not matter too much if it is comfortable. If you dive in cold water then the suit may let water slosh around and make the dive a lot colder and more unpleasant. I went and got a custom...
It's not just the rarity of the tank...I'm not sure, if I would return it. It could just be negligible...I'm no tank expert. Doesn't look too bad...but if it introduces the possibility of rust then that's bad. I can't tell what is cosmetic and what is a real issue. I don't care about it if...
divebums.com is a great resource for San Diego diving. The La Jolla sites are good suggestions.
I have only been diving for a year, so I don't know all the sites, but I greatly enjoyed diving Los Coronados Islands if you decide to go on a boat dive.
Hey,
Just got one of the (last remaining it would seem) E7-100 tanks today by delivery.
One thing, in a several places it seems that the rough journey has chipped off the silvery coating, revealing the dull gray below. The damage isn't very deep, and I know the tank will get worn over...
Maybe Maritess and Black Manta both know about opression at the hands of the superfriends!
But, what's the deal with the laugh track in that cartoon, kind of disturbing...
(edit: I read the information about the piece and found out that it was performed before a live audience before the...
