    x-knife (dive xtras)

Yes, I do want to send it back. I also don't want to have to pay the shipping for it since their advertising clearly says and shows a serrated edge. It's a pain to have to deal with this hassle since the knife is already kind of expensive for what it is... Thanks for the input. I wonder...

    x-knife (dive xtras)

Hey, I got this knife but the edge is not serrated as it was shown online. It is completely smooth, though sharp. I expected it to be serrated as shown, which seems useful for some applications? Thoughts? Have the knives that you have seen from them had serrated edges?

Need some new camstraps * Whats your favorite

I use the PST E series tank which should be pretty durable -- I haven't tested it for jelly-beanocity though. I don't know if it will be any problem down the line, but it isn't nice to have dents left in the tank after use. But the problem is solved with a bit of duct tape. Or a few decals...

    Salton Sea Diving!

Check out this description of diving in the Great Salt Lake. I imagine that the Salton Sea is worse. http://www.utahdiving.com/saltlake.htm I did, however, swim in the Great Salt Lake. And all I saw was brine shrimp and black and copper mud. When I came out I was covered with salt...

The only problem with the Halcyon straps is that they will gouge your tanks some.

A few other people quoted this one, and I will too. It is the best and funniest idea (and most true?) so far!!!!

my bp/wing experience (a year later)

This would have been good for my wife to know. She ordered her set up from COVCI. He was very helpful to her before the sale. But when she wrote him about this issue (she didn't know about deburring the edges), she never heard back... Anyway, sounds like a great idea. Shaka Zulu -- yes...

my bp/wing experience (a year later)

Hello! Since it is such a popular topic and since I read so many posts by new divers asking about these BCs I thought I would share my experience. Especially since a lot of people here helped me out when I first started looking for a BC (http://www.scubaboard.com/t37449-.html). In...

Best food in the oddest place....

The best Mexican food I have had is at a restaurant called "Red Iguana" in Salt Lake City. This is coming from someone from San Diego, where there is plenty of very good Mexican food. The food at Red Iguana focuses on Oaxacan cuisine, with very good mole sauces, and a lot more than typical...

    x-knife (dive xtras)

Thanks for the response. I am glad to see that someone out there has tried the knife. I haven't seen an option that I prefer to it so chances are I'll go ahead and pick one up. I hope that some store around here has one though, because at 5th dimension the $7 shipping seems like a lot of a...

    x-knife (dive xtras)

Hello all, I have been thinking about getting the little x-knife by Dive Xtras. Anyone have experience with that knife? It seems small, usable, and durable. I worry a little bit about whether it would be able to fall out of that sheath though. Any opinions from anyone that has seen or...

    Favorite obscure movie

Yes, I saw Delicatessen back when I was in high school off a friends recommendation. An excellent, quirky movie with tasteful effects and a strange post-apolcalyptic world.

    Favorite obscure movie

Spike Lee's "Girl 6." I really liked this movie. It was very experimental for a mainstream movie with a lot of nice social commentary and a soundtrack by Prince. I thought it had a very good feel to it, though it was marketed completely differently. Surprisingly it deals with a lot of the...

    SF/Monterey HP Fills

I got my tank (same tank) filled at the Aquarius dive shop over in Monterey right next to Breakwater and they filled it perfectly to just below 3500 (should be 3442).

    Mask Straps

I also really like the Q-Strap. I have the Oceanmaster Z2 mask and it is very comfortable. Also, I tried a lot of other masks and this fit me the best...though you only asked about the strap so you probably have a different mask in mind. The neoprene has a rubbery non-slip surface in the...

    Halcyon BCD

Sometimes you can find discounts in package deals. For example I know a shop in San Diego that a year ago was selling the Scubapro Mk 18, G250, and R390 along with a 36lb Pioneer system for about $849 or $899. Also, Halcyon treated my very well after I got a hole in my Pioneer, so I can...

recommend S.F. open water class ?

Hello, Thanks for the suggestions. I did PM Dan, hopefully something will work out. I haven't seen any Sport Chalets around here. I noticed that there are some YMCA classes in Sa n Jose, but that is too far for us to travel for class. While I await Dan's response I'll keep shopping around.

recommend S.F. open water class ?

Hello, I just relocated (well, 4 or 5 months ago) to the S.F. Bay area from San Diego. My wife and I got certifed down there two years ago, and now we are trying to get my father, who lives in San Francisco, certified too! Every place I have seen up here is really expensive. In San Diego...
