In a way he is. Last time I was down there he parked next to us while we suited up and stayed there for a long time watching us without saying anything. Finally he asked if we could be dive buddies. I said that we already had a plan and he asked where we were from and if we had seen some...
Yes, sounds like a great deal. I also am very happy with my Mk18/g250. I got mine in San Diego probably at the same place. My deal was a package that also included a Halcyon BC and the r390 octopus. A year later the package deal went down by another $50 after the halxyon eclipse wing came...
If your system is fairly new, probably you don't need to go out and replace it right away. I bought a BP/Wing system, and I like it, but I don't think it is the answer to improvement of your buoyancy, trim, control, etc.
Instead of spending more money and worrying about the right equipment...
I'm happy with my Jets, but definitely with a thick soled bootie (for power transfer and so they don't kill my arches). It was hard to find a good combination that worked but the Henderson Hyperstretch boot has a thick sole but still fits well inside an XL Jetfin.
That is the way I've practiced ditching the weight. I trust the velcro well enough, but I still would be reluctant to wear them upside down. It seems easier to somehow accidently open with my arm while on land or at the surface. Unlikely, I know, but when I am vertical then at least gravity...
I use the same pockets as scubaroo and I also like this set-up a great deal. I use a single tank rig and a thick (2 piece 6.5 mm) wetsuit. The weight is easily ditchable with a bit of practice and is more comfortable to me than a weight belt.
As for the Tobin plate, I haven't used it yet...
Hello,
It has been suggested to me that using XS Scuba pockets attached to the harness of a BP/Wing system is a good alternative to the weight belt. I've practiced to make sure that I can ditch in an emergency and my dive buddy uses the same set-up.
Do you think that having only velcro to...
Hi,
Good luck with your purchase. Good choice about the plate. I also am curious about its compatibility with the Oxycheq wing.
Some advice about a bad plate and the oxycheq wing can be found in the following thread:

My wife uses it...
#1 Banana Milkshake
#2 Peanut Punch (Caribbean Drink -- whole peanuts ground and strained, milk or soy milk, sugar or other natural sweetener, banana, nutmeg & spices, + optional roots or other natural ingredients -- a little like egg nog)
Thanks for taking the time to post that here FredT.
Thanks also NWGratefuldiver, scubatexastony, scubadobadoo, everyone!
I have a lot of clear directions if I decide to finish hers (there are no burrs, just the edges are not smoothed out), or get her a new one. We'll work it out and be...
Aquaoren, Spectrum
I am not much of a DIY type guy (I am not even looking forward to taking out the webbing and having to set her rig up again), but on the other hand I do like to know my gear and to be self-sufficient. So, I have never used a Dremel. What would I need to do to go this...
For some reason the deepseasupply links aren't working. I guess we were 1 for 2 on buying backplates. Hopefully we can fix this at a minimal loss.
NWGratefulDiver, what color webbing are you using now? She might like a different color (maybe blue) when she replaces hers.
Honestly, I...
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the feedback. Perrone, she bought her wing at a time period where everyone on this board was really high on Oxycheq wings Several people here mentioned COVCI as a good option for a complete package for a good price. The guy who runs it, Chris, is a member of this...
One thing to remember is that the mouthpieces are the same size and the weight difference is negligible underwater. S550 is the same size as the r390 I believe. I think it is essentially the same as the s600 but you can't adjust it. They would detune it to serve as an octo if you...
Anyone ever read the book "Understanding Comics?" The author (Scott McCloud) explains how sometimes a simpler, more iconic image can be more expressive than a more detailed, specific image. That may be what's going on here.
That book is a work of genius by the way.
Welcome! Yes, Scubaboard is great! I got so many questions answered here as I was learning to dive. In the beginning the sheer amount of information here can be overwhelming. But by asking good questions you can also narrow down the overwhelming number of options there are out there for...
Yes, the best advice is to get what you really want by some means without settling. You could even call the shop out in Austin yourself and maybe they would send it to you if they have it.
I got mine here:

Maybe they'll deliver it to you (and...
