    Twin Tanks set up

The conshelf reg is one of the best ever made, but it is not a good choice for a DIN conversion. The kit is expensive and the finished product is very long; the DIN adapter just sticks off the yoke mating surface. If I was you I would dive the conshelfs as yoke with the insert, just make sure...

    Empty boat sinks during dive

Thanks... I have no experience of boating along the Canadian border, and while I will agree that leaving a boat unattended adds risk; the risks can be mitigated. It would be a sad day when the authorities require a dive supervisor on board.

    Tank Valve Leak.....?

The manufacturing process for older Sano-Sub (OMS) valves had the gas passages drilled out of the original casting right down through the top of the valve. The hole in the top was then brazed over once the machining process was complete. The brazed area is usually visible as a small circular...

    Piston or Diaphragm

Lorenzoid, You are correct here, except rebreathers that have a constant mass flow orifice need to have a non depth compensating first stage. This is usually done by installing a blanking plug across the ambient chamber on a diaphragm first stage. This now does limit the depth the reg will...

    Piston or Diaphragm

The water pressure is exerted on the piston through the holes in the cap. Many folks are confused by the balanced vs depth compensating thing.

    Piston or Diaphragm

The Oceanic SP5 is a copy of the SP MK2. It is an unbalanced flow by piston first stage, but it is depth compensating. If yours was acting as you describe there was somthing wrong with it.

    Piston or Diaphragm

Peter: This is not one of your better moments. There is so much wrong with this advice I don't know where to begin. The reg you grabbed for your EN dive must not have been depth compensating. Note these are usally modified Apeks Diaphram regs on rEvos. Cheers, Mark

Anybody been to the Jetties @St. Andrews yet this month?

I did dive the Jetties yesterday 4/3/2013. Got in the water at 3:30 In anticipation of a 4:00 high tide. Upon entry there was a light rain falling, and pretty much slack tide conditions. Water in the pass was blue with 20-30 foot vis. I swam south towards the Gulf. By 3:45 there was a noticeable...

Marion County’s municipal code Chapter 5 (Boats, Docks, and Waterways) would have to be changed to allow diving here. Sec. 5-2. - Scuba diving prohibited at certain locations. (a) For purposes of this section, "scuba diving" shall mean swimming underwater with any apparatus, whether...

is there a model called 2500 and 3000 for RB?

Maybe you mean the CCR 2000. It was designed and built by Boeing engineer Dan Wible. He sold the rights to Olympic Submarine who continued the development until they went bankrupt. The CCR 2000 sort of evaporated after that.

    Prism 2 Predator Computer

The Shearwater on the Prism 2 is not just a monitor; it is also the controller. You do not want the computer that is controlling the solenoid for your rebreather to be fisher connected. Hollis was very wise to hardwire the controller to the head.
