    Belize virgins

As far as diving and beaches, Ambergris Caye or Caye Caulker are both really neat places with really good dive ops. Ambergris Caye is more developed then Caye Caulker which still feels small. I would also suggest considering spending time in the jungle. We stayed at Cave's Branch Jungle Lodge...

Being Forced to Buy Equipment AT LDS for Class

If he insists that you buy gear from his shop even though you already have it then I would find somewhere else to take the class.

    Finally happened-ear troubles

I had the exact same problems you are describing a two weeks ago and am still trying to get completely over it (granted I didn't use the drops quite as long as I probably should have). My doctor said that I had to keep my ear dry for three weeks and that things should clear up in about a week...

How do I properly adjust my weighting with a steel tank?

You still need to account for the air that you have breathed and exhaled regardless of the type of tank.

First time in 7mm suit - hypothermia must be better!

Definitely better to be a bit constricted than cold. Try a few wetsuits if you can (at least in the store) to try and find one that is most comfortable, because it does vary from suit to suit. If you are going to be doing lots of cold water diving I think it is definitely worth getting drysuit...

Buoyancy change with AL vs Steel Tank

Ok, Thats what I thought and what made sense to me. I guess I have remembered/ heard the wrong thing.

Well, that was a new one...

I was on a dive in Belize when one of the divers lost their primary for some reason ( I think she may have ran into the wall or something) when she went to switch to her octo the mouthpiece stayed in the holder as she pulled the rest of it out. Thankfully the two DM's did a great job of getting...

Buoyancy change with AL vs Steel Tank

Why is it only normal to add weight to compensate for the air being breathed when using aluminum tanks. Assuming similar volumes of air in an aluminum and steel tank, won't they both undergo the same change in mass due to the air exhaled, therefore leading to the same buoyancy change. Have I...

Air integrated computers and drysuit diving

Echoing what the other posters have, I would think that the air used in your drysuit would be minimal in comparison to what you breath. Also, If you are diving with a non AI computer you will still be limited by air the same as if you have a AI computer.

Can someone recommend a good dive operator in Ambergris Caye?

I was happy with both the hotel and the dive shop when I was in Belize. I didn't dive from the hotel as we were chartering a sailboat for a week, but I stayed there one night and did some dives with Aqua Dives. The hotel is probably within 100 ft of the dock so its really easy to move gear for...

    Sherwood VS Atomic

I dive a Sherwood Maximus and couldn't be happier with it. It is great in cold water. I haven't dove Atomic reg so I can't compare but I would definitely recommend this Sherwood reg.

    In Tacoma for the summer

Hi all, I will be working in Tacoma for the summer and was wondering what conditions are like in the area. Also, are there any shops or dive sites that people would recommend I check out.

    Question about wetsuit hood

I have never had problems equalizing with a hood on, even during my OW checkout dives. I have experienced problems with the skirt not fitting right on rental hoods so I would suggest asking about the best way to trim it from the shop when you buy it.

When traveling to dive resorts do you bring your own regs?

Now that I have my own regs I will definitely bring them with me, but I have not had any problems with rental gear in the trips that I have done. If I didn't have my own set of gear I would not have big concerns with renting.

    Do NOT rent regulators

I can see why you wouldn't want to rent a regulator if you dove frequently, but for people who don't dive a lot it sometimes makes more sense to rent. Also, renting can let you try a few different products before deciding what to buy. As far as the quality of rental regulators goes, good...

    Dry Bag?

This might be what you are looking for but I don't know how deep it can be submerged and have no experience with it. I can't post a URL so search google for "Watershed Chattooga Dry Duffel"

Filling a BC manually vs. with tank?

I was taught not to hold your breath while switching between the regulator and the inflator but to let a little stream of bubbles out as you switch. Also, it is a more efficient use of air to use the inflator instead of manually inflating your BCD, so unless you were out of air or had an...

    Best Computer for the money

I have used the Oceanic Veo 250, and while my experience with it is limited (<20 dives), I have been happy with it so far. It is easy to read and use underwater, and is easy to review and plan dives on the surface.

Has anyone ever had to ditch their weight?

I think that ditching weights is more practical once you are already at the surface and are trying to maintain buoyancy.
