Anyone using the Viking X-Treme drysuit?

Yup, it's still lying around here. I keep it because of the valves. I might need them 1 day. Forget about buying it, transport costs to FL would be more than the suit is worth... Steven

Anyone using the Viking X-Treme drysuit?

Pete, the Otter skin suit is much stronger than the Viking. OTOH it's less flexible. I've used the Otter for serious wreck diving and it survived without a single cut. It's cheaper too, at least here in Belgium. If you dive somewhere where the viz is pretty good and you're not ferreting...

Anyone using the Viking X-Treme drysuit?

My first drysuit was a Viking Extreme, and in the beginning I loved it. It was light, quick to dry, fitted me like a glove, etc... Then, on a dive with very bad visibility (about 10 inches), current swept me away and I drifted right into an oyster-bank. The suit was badly cut, about 3 to 4...

    heart murmer? Can't dive?

deepdiver359, first try to find out what is causing this murmur. It may be an Atrial Septal Defect or other nasty congenital defect, which is generally considered as a contra-indication to diving. Now, I had one of those (more specifically a perforated atrial aneurysm) and I had it...

    The great travel BC topic

I used to dive a transpac with a travelwing. Now I use the Buddy Travelwing with a plastic backplate. Love it. Cheap to. Can do independant doubles (if they're lightweight -AL80 e.g.- ...) for travel, this comes handy if you need to improvise I'm wearing it on the pic that's attaceh to my...

    Max. depth on Air

Contrary to what some people seem to think, there is still a lot of "deep air" diving going on. Liveaboards in the red sea routinely push 150 ft, and dives to 200 ft (and more) are certainly no exception. In France lot's of (wreck) dives are performed to depths of 200 ft, with few accidents...

    CF200 vs. FLX50/50

Good choice, you won't regret it. I love my CF200. One tip: get the Kevlar kneepads. The material is strong, but oysters and zebra mussels still win the contest :( Steven

    Suunto SK7 strap

OK, I just love my Suunto SK7 compass, but I really hate the strap. Try to get it on wearing dry gloves or 3 finger mittens and you’ll see what I mean. :( Some of the DIR guys use bungee shock cord to attach the compass to their wrist. Quick & easy, but it looks very ugly. :( I also...
