    Regulator configuration for recreational diving

I only responded to your post that I originally quoted as you stated 90%-99%, which now you say you have no idea about the numbers. Since SSI is one of the larger agencies I will assume more and more divers are becoming familiar with primary donate. Notice I don't say long hose, necklaced...

    Is this the average diver?

Why what? Why do I see them? Why do they use them? Why are they going to die? (The latter because SB says so )

    Regulator configuration for recreational diving

Are you aware that SSI teaches primary donate? I don't have the numbers (so won't make any up) but I would think that might lower your 90%-99% number a bit

    Is this the average diver?

I'm out (pre-COVID) on a boat (lets say 10-12 guests per boat) 5-6 days a week. The majority of our guests are tourists, some being more than just vacation divers. Most are using our rental gear: Standard jacket BCD, primary/secondary regulators with a console AI Computer Of those that bring...

Free SSI Science of Diving Specialty

Maybe not monetized yet, but records are being kept and recorded in order to prove who has done XXX (deepest, best SAC, blah blah, blah) I did find this: About Sport Scuba Diving Sport Diving is an underwater aquatic sport, where aspects of scuba diving are performed in a swimming pool. The...

Speaking as crew on a dive boat I know bigger is easier to see With that in mind I use this Super Big Diver's Alert Marker, 6' I bungee it to the bottom of the weight pocket on my Hydros Pro with the spool attached and clipped to the D ring there

    Honeymoon Recommendations

No ferries between the islands. Mokulele is the small puddle jumper type airline, though Hawaiian and SWA probably don't fly too high as the distance is quite close. There are those who do skip the 24 hour no fly time. The big challenge as of now is the 14 day quarantine required on all...

Is there good drift diving on the Hawaiian islands?

So What Is Everyone Doing To Pass Time

I've been touting this (don't wear a mask unless you're sick) for days, and now I read this in the NY Times "Should healthy people be wearing masks when they’re outside to protect themselves and others? Both the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have...

    Diver Dead in South Florida

Most weight belts are far too stiff to be used as a TQ Here is a quick find, but there are many more references Wanna bleed to death? Use your belt as a tourniquet! - MyMedic "I recently read an article on a preparedness website describing how to modify a belt to be a better tourniquet to...

I keep checking back in this thread to see if the COVID has flattened the curve (or maybe just shifted it....)

So What Is Everyone Doing To Pass Time

I just spent 10 wonderful minutes watching a mother humpback and her calf cruise along just south of Ala Moana on Oahu. The calf was frisky as it breached upwards of 20 times :bounce:

    Best describe your diving.

Well, Hawaii definitely is warmer water than Puget Sound where I learned to dive. And it is local when I walk to the boat. :clearmask:

The same way you would test a known tank???? I analyze my tanks because I don't know (trust) what is in them until I verify it myself.
