How the hell does this happen

Somehow, people in S. Africa got a hold of one of my CC numbers and started charging a bunch of flights to it. The CC company notified me and of course I wound up paying for none of it. I still don't know how they got the card number, but it's not your fault and you shouldn't feel bad. These...

Anyone here from St Petersburg? Hoping for a huge favour!

Thanks very much for the reply! I actually shop at PM, but didn't see it the last time I looked, so must be a new listing. Majorly overpriced, but they take a 20% cut, plus most sellers are open to offers, so maybe. They don't ship to Canada, though, and would still prefer that than picking up...

Anyone here from St Petersburg? Hoping for a huge favour!

Back in December, I lost my house keys that shared space w/ a key ring from the Dali Museum in St Petersburg. I had that key ring for well over a decade, so am much dismayed by its absence. That museum visit was pretty much the only good thing to come out of an ill-fated OW certification trip to...

Southern Leyte/Sogod Bay Dive Sites to the World: “Reports of my Death have been Greatly Exaggerated.”

Thanks for your report! Sogod Bay was probably my favourite place to dive in the PI. Glad to learn things are on the mend.

Thanks, I skimmed the forums, and breezed right by non-geographic clubs.

    FAQ Restricted Access Forums

Does the Scuba Singles subforum still exist? I haven't seen it in years, so was surprised to see it listed above. I opted in and am still not seeing it listed anywhere.

    RIP Dr. Bill

You're very kind for even answering such a question. ;)

    RIP Dr. Bill

So very sad to read this. I met Bill years ago and had the pleasure of spending the weekend in the efficiency suite at his condo on Catalina. We laughed and laughed and laughed... no diving, but the company and the humour certainly made up for it. Sincere condolences to his family and many friends.

    Mike Brady AKA MB

Sad to read this. I did a nitrox course with Mike many years ago. Very kind man.

Wondering where your stuff from overseas is? Shipaggedon!

@Marie13 I was about to send you a DM re: shipping info, but it seems you have the DM feature turned off. Is this correct or am I missing something here?

TSandM's Panic in the experienced diver?

Sorry to learn of the surgery, and the mishap underwater. Glad you're on the mend, though. :)

Trip Report COVID-Delayed God's Pocket Trip Report

I'm amazed by your experience w/ the CBSA at YVR. Can you elaborate on that, please?

Question Prior Injuries and Diving (Wounds, Stroke, DCS)

Hah! I won't even do laser surgery for vision correction... partly too much $$ invested in unique eye frames... but also concerned about ghosting, halo-ing, whatever it is that can potentially go wrong. I'm fortunate in that my floaters are tolerable. I can even deal w/ that flashing in the...

Question Prior Injuries and Diving (Wounds, Stroke, DCS)

How bad were your floaters? Not during diving, but in daily life? I've had floaters for years; most times they're not a problem. A few months ago, I took myself to the ER on the wknd b/c I was getting streaking in my right eye. I followed up w/ my eye doctor afterwards and his thought was to...

Corrective lenses for scuba mask, lost.

Probably. I get my vision checked once every 2 yrs, as per my insurance, and certainly would not make a special trip in for lenses for my dive masks unless something untoward happened in between eye exams. As someone suggested above, I have frames, one TUSA, IIRC, and the other Dive Rite that...

    Vintage Oxygen Rebreathers

Did you ever run into Gregg Stanton up there in cave country? He's been diving since dinosaurs roamed the earth, but tends to keep a relatively low profile online. Equipped with extensive diving knowledge and numerous rebreathers, plus the patience of a saint, as per my time completing my OW...

    Trip Report Cephalopod Sunday!

I had the great fortune to have encounters with a highly memorable cuttlefish and tiny octopus while in the Philippines years ago. Truly amazing creatures. I'll no longer eat calamari, though... Thanks for sharing your footage.

Canada is no longer warning against non-essential travel

Yes, that was announced over a week ago. Nov 8. CBSA wants a negative covid test, though. Such tests are around $200 in my province. I'm only making a day trip, so not keen on paying that fee, and unless WA state comes up w/ really fast turnaround times, their free testing won't be of any use to...
