    Up and down too much?

Huh? Try reading the OP's question properly next time. Sarcasm doesn't work so well if you make yourself look silly trying to use it. Listen to what the other people have said tpolson88. They make good points re how theoretically you should be fine but you always end up feeling lousy anyway...

    Which regulator do you own?

ScubaPro Mk17/G250V. Its worked absolutely brilliantly for me. I wanted to get the Mk19 (which is the Mk17 with a turret) for the better hose routing but wasn't prepared to pay the rather exorbitant price for it.

    Horrible first post-cert dive

:clapping: As so many others have already said, you made an excellent decision! Knowing when it is time to stick out that thumb is a mark of a good diver and I would love to have you as my buddy because you aren't afraid to dive within your limits. Now get out there and enjoy yourself...

    The Silent World

I really don't mean to criticise or judge but when I watched part 3, with the hammer and dynamite action and the clip with the turtle, I wanted to cry. :( But thanks for posting the links captain! They are [mostly] a joy to watch for a young 'un like me!

    SMB Line Shortening Trick

I've actually seen someone do this before :shakehead: It was an instabuddy on a trip I did to a place called Aliwal Shoal. We got to 5m and started doing our safety stop. I sort of looked across at him as if to say "Am I hauling out my SMB and spool or are you?" He seemed to be a...

    SMB Line Shortening Trick

Okay, I can buy being distrustful of a reel because those can get fouled because they are easy to bird's nest the line and they can also get jammed because the line can get hooked on another part of it. But what I can't see is a spool getting fouled or jammed in any way. Seriously ... it is...

How much weight is too much?

Sirens scream, lights flash and automated doors leading to the emergency exits slide open noisily. A loud, obnoxious voices blares at your from all sides yelling: "Warning! Warning! You are entering a thread hijack zone!" :D Treading water does not involve your hands AT ALL. That is...

    First reg

I think that we can quite safely say that this is marketing bovine excrement. Oh ... I'm sure that they wouldn't lie, the techs probably did do some calibrations but it is more likely because someone dropped their coffee all over the instruments. :D As for me, my reg is a ScubaPro Mk17/G250V. I...

Most Streamlined bc with all the comfort

If you take something that is streamlined to start with and clip things to it, surely it is still more streamlined than something which was not streamlined to start with when it has the same things clipped off to it? If the OP's concern about a bp/w is comfort, she shouldn't worry. I dived...

Where does the valve of a slung cylinder sit in relation to your body?

Thanks for the videos Jonathan, they definitely helped. Looking at them it appears that the valve is supposed to be below the plane of your body however I still feel that mine was a bit too low. I managed to get hold of some photos to show you. Its hard to see in the front view but I circled my...

    Fingerless/half finger gloves

I suppose it also depends on the type of glove you use. As I mentioned the 5mm pair I cut off work much better at sealing around the fingertips. But regardless, not matter how easy it is for water to come in, your hands will still stay warmer than if they were naked if you minimise hand...

    Fingerless/half finger gloves

I have produced my own fingerless gloves by cutting the fingers off three different pairs with varying degrees of success. The first pair was a 3mm pair and I cut them down fairly close to where the finger joins the main part. Over time the cut frayed and stretched so more and more water...

Where does the valve of a slung cylinder sit in relation to your body?

I have recently purchased a 40cf cylinder for use as a pony bottle and rigged it as you would a stage or deco bottle so I can sling it. I chose the 40cf because I wanted to sling it due to the fact that I believe that this is a better way than mounting it to the side of one's tank. This left...

    Rust on stainless steel knife?

Phosporic acid is the passivating agent in Coca-cola. I used it on my broken-off steak knife DIR-style knife and it was rust free after that. The nice thing though was that it broke down the existing rust so it just wiped straight off. No scrubbing!

    Your scuba set-up

The waters here typically vary between 11C (~50F) and 16C (~60F). DSS Rig - SS plate with a 26# Torus wing. Scubapro Mk17/G250V with an R295 as an octo. Mares X-Vision mask. Mares Avanti 3X fins. Suunto Vytec computer. Zero (local company) two piece, double seal wetsuit. I usually dive...

Octo on a necklace ... with a twist

Thats exactly the situation I saw Lumikuru. The hose on the reg they were planning to donate (their primary) was shorter than the hose on their bungied backup.

Octo on a necklace ... with a twist

I couldn't see on the one diver but on the second I saw a few weeks later (the two divers were not on the same dive) I specifically looked to check and the octo was definitely ziptied on. I didn't really get a chance to speak to either of them because I only spotted the necklace as they kitted...

Octo on a necklace ... with a twist

Twice now I have seen a recreational diver jetting off to do a nice dive with their octo bungied around their necks. Which shouldn't be surprising. The setup is very well thought out and I believe is much safer than the conventional "now where did my buddy stick his octo this time" approach...

    Where to place weight pockets?

I used to have a not-insignificant dislike for weightbelts when I dived a jacket BC. Mine always seemed to get in the way. But now that I dive one a BP/W the weightbelt seems to disappear, I never notice it at all*. I'm not sure what it is about the rig that does it, but it works. :D And I...
