I think dangerous is situation dependant, but all of your examples would fit the bill. Would you warn someone who was going to dive with them?

I've heard the rumor through a credible source this morning after reading this, though they weren't able to substantiate them. If they were credible, this one sounded like a smaller shark than the one in Marina.

Heard a couple reports of injured pinnipeds in the area today. Apparently there was a seal on a Beach near Grand Ave in Pacific Grove (near Lovers pt.) that appeared to have injuries similar to a shark attack, and also a sea lion at break water/coast guard pier with large gashes on its side.

From what I understand, talking to one of the DSOs from teh aquarium, there haven't been any actual sightings by aquarium or hopkins personnel, just sightings of dead sea lions and such around the Hopkins reef area.

I don't think you'll hit warmer waters. Monterey would probably be your best bet. Get in touch with Bruce at Aquarius dive shop www.aquariusdivers.com and see if you can arrange somethign with him.

You might want to try some stuff out before making purchases. You will very likely develop different preferences and opinions of different types of gear you'll want/need as you dive. For instance, some peopel like plit fins, others hate them. some peopel lie jacket BCs, others prefer back...
