    How strong should you be?

That would be the dead lift.;)

    How strong should you be?

What TSandM said. My doubles weight in at around 110lbs. You'll need to be able to move that weight around while being gentle, not banging them into anything. Replacing valve stems and manifolds can get expensive. A set of hand trucks works great for schlepping them around for fills.

    Running a dive shop?

That's where the people with the disposable income live and they are the ones that my business serves. I had a lot of disposable income before I started diving.;) Where I live there are not that many tech divers, so I believe that one would just about have to target the wealthy, entry level...

    Pony bottle vs. Spare Air?

The pucker factor is just too high for me to depend on a Spare Air. I think running out of gas twice on the same dive might ruin my day.:shakehead:

Almost to deco... your first time?

At the very least- you should have a copy of the US Navy Air Tables and know how to calculate your deco obligation.

    Unreasonable fear of depth

I think you should just forget about diving very deep for now. Do lots of shallow dives and just gradually work on getting a little deeper on every other dive.

Do you avoid people with bad sac rates?

I'll go for dive 2 with the same "air hog", they'll have a better idea of what to expect this time around, and we might match your SAC on our second dive. We'll beat you on our third.:D You'll be begging to dive with us in a day or so.:14::14::14:

    Municipal dive work

It would probably be best for you to contact the attorney that assisted you in forming your business. I'll bet that you are not in a good position to hand the City a proposal or bid.

Do you avoid people with bad sac rates?

SAC rates do go up and down depending on cold, stress, workload, or just plain being off your game on that particular day. I'd rather dive with a new diver trying to improve their skills and having a SAC rate of 1.0+, than dive with an accomplished console dragger who knows everything.

My brother - was too young

Rarely is God mentioned on SB, but since you brought it up- I believe that your brother is now in the care of the God that he loved and trusted. The sorrow that I feel is for you- because I'm sure that you'll miss him and I know how that feels, it hurts, it never goes away, but it settles, and...

    Welcome to Advanced Diver Magazine

Curt, I love your magazine, the writing is great, and jtoorish is a superb photographer. One of my most favorite things about your mag is how your graphic artist draws the 3D cave profiles. Absolutely great! Please have him or her do more!

    Cave dive if uncertified

:rofl3: No one that I know would take you. It's a major pain having to fill out all the paperwork for the fatality report, not to mention having to call up the recovery divers, cops, coroner, and then having to lug off all your gear for examination and testing. Seriously, you would most likely...

Book that should be mandatory reading..

I read every accident and incident report that I can find. DAN, iucrr, message boards, and even the dive mags. Not out of morbid curiosity, but for the simple reason that what I don't know just might get me killed. The more I know, the less chance I stand of making a stupid mistake or a bad...

    Another (legit) nitrox ?

My main concern with this thread is that shoud one decide to dive 32% while using a computer set to air or 21%, sure the computer will give you a very conservative bottom time, but....that same computer will give you a MOD that will be WAY to deep for the 32% that is being breathed. Forget that...

    Cold Feet (A Drysuit Question)

You have the dui rockboot system so you really need to wear boots or Chuck Tarlors. You'll most likely have to go to a larger fin size also. DON'T walk around at a dive site in just the DUI sock booties or you'll be sorry because they'll wear out in no time flat. I've never used gaiters so I...

    Secondary reg bungee'd around neck?

The guys that I dive with would most likely notice all the commotion- me getting mugged for my reg and my light beam going all fugazi. In all honesty I firmly believe that the people that I choose to dive with would be doing everything in their power to get a reg into my mouth as quickly as...

    Cold Feet (A Drysuit Question)

I'm very pleased with my Smartwool socks. Any good sporting goods store should have them. I'm confused about one thing. Do you have turbo soles or a rock boot system on your DUI suit? If you have the rock boot footies it's a must to wear either DUI rock boots or a pair of Cuck Taylors.
