I got a 50' roll of 1/8 and have found it useful for all kinds of things. I use it to attach my light and camera to my BC. Hold my leg zippers down on my wetsuit. Attach a home-made diffuser to my camera's focus light...etc...

I also wrapped my housing in bubble wrap and took it in my carry-on the one time i've travelled with it. It's an ikelite and they didn't even take a look at it.

They'r basically the same. I like my back inflate BC because it leaves my whole front area pretty unobstructed. Overall though the differences are minimal. You'll get used to either kind. I always have a pistol style light and my camera both clipped to the front of my BC so it's crowded...

Heh i didn't know they were rare either. They were all over at Carmel Meadows. Overall though the dive site was kinda a pain ;) Big long walk down a starcase and then over sand with full gear wore us out. Pretty shallow too. This little critter was hanging on for dear life in the swell...

Thanks for the compliments. I think those pics are made more by the subjects than anything i did. They'r all with the Fuji F810 and ikelite housing. I just got ULCS hardware to attach a flashlight to use as a focus-assist light but that's the only thing attached to my camera. All those pics...

Yeah there was photoshop involved but my point was just that digi point and shoots are more than capable of taking phenomenal underwater pictures. dSLR's are (i'm sure) very cool but also very expensive (for my budget). P&S's are small and cheaper housings are available for many brands.
