Yeah i had a UK SL6 explode (salt getting on the battery i think). I emailed them and they told me to send it in and they'd replace it no questions asked. Great service!
Someone correct me if i'm wrong but i thought the Canon A series didn't have the ability to take RAW. FWIW the ability to take RAW has helped tons for me to learn to take pics underwater and it would be a necessity for any UW camera in the future (for me).
I know the Canon S series has...
I wouldn't look down my nose at the aqualung Titan...it may not be the most expensive reg you can find but i've used that same reg since getting cert almost a year ago on ~60 dives. Breathes great down to 100' (as deep as i've been) and in water down to high 40's F (coldest i've been in). I've...
It has been asked 1000 times and my answer is always the same. Take a look at the Fuji F810 + Ikelite housing for in the range of $700-$800. The two downsides to this camera everyone mentions are short battery life (60 or so pics on a battery) and slow write times for RAW pictures. Besides...
I don't know your camera but i have an ike case that has "All controls accessible" and it truly has all the controls through the housing. I would assume they're there even if not readily apparent in the picture.
Closest place to get nitrox would be in Monterey. Monterey Bay Dive Center and Aquarius on Del Monte are the only shops that fill nitrox as far as i know. Both would be a bit of a drive from Lobos. It would probably be doable but i always just rent 2 tanks if i'm doing 2 dives. I like to...
I'd be up for 10/1. I always find down south if more mellow/fun then braving the breakwater/metridium on a weekend. Monastery or Butterfly House can often be awesome dives.
EDIT: but i'd be up for consensus view of course ;)

Hey folks,
Last weekend my triple-l orion BC power inflator had run away inflation. I managed to get the LP hose disconnected and regained control and finished the dive, but needless to say i want to resolve this before going out again (next weekend :D). I took of the inflator piece and...
The internal flash with a diffuser would be better until you can get an external strobe. I too am saving pennies for a strobe. I tried using my flashlight for awhile but besides it being kinda difficult to aim the light and the camera it just can't light up the full frame. Internal flash on...
UK C8 LED is a great light. Batteries last forever and it is plenty bright for a primary on night dives. Not as bright as the HIDs but its never been too dim for me. Also the UK SL6 is a good light in a slightly smaller package. Depends on what you want it for but the C8 is a great primary...
Fuji F810 is a great underwater camera. Great low light focus, sharp pics, extremely low shutter lag. Propietary batteries that have a hard time lasting 2 dives is my only complaint so far.
EDIT: For the F810 i would say get the Ikelite housing. Much beefier than the fuji and thick walls...
Well i recently bought into UW photography with the FujiF810. It's awesome in my opinion (my first ever UW camera). You can get setup with the F810 + Ikelite housing + everything else (batteries mem cards etc) for around $700 (might be closer to $800). It has great low light focusing...
I also keep the batteries out when it's sitting around. Seems like it was like Mark said a defective battery because one seemed to leak battery acid. They were only in the camera maybe 1/2 hour when it blew.
So i have a 6C flashlight i attach to my camera as a focus light. This morning i load it with the usual NIMH rechargeables that have worked fine in the past and roll out to dive. On the way in the car i hear this BAM! that sounds like something hit the top of my car. I have no idea what it is...
Hey folks just lookin for some last minute buddies this weekend as other folks i dive with are all busy. Anyone going out to Carmel or Monterey this weekend who needs a buddy shoot me a line.
Thanks!
Chris
Even if you are getting an air-integrated computer i would go with an analog guage as backup. I don't have an AI computer so i still use my gauges for air but regardless i like having something that is pretty fail-safe around. After buying my regs, BC, fins, computer, camera and housing...
I woulnd't worry too much about getting a "fancy" cold water reg. By that i mean something named "Tundra" or "Arctic" or "Glacier" or some such thing. I'm sure those are great regs but waters in the 50'sF doesn't require that. I live in Monterey and have most of my dives in cold CA waters...
