I've only been to Coz once but every DM I had was either an instructor or a boat captain...they were also all Mexican ;) But from what i've heard if you want to make diving your only job you'll do yourself a favor picking up some skills beyond DM.
Is this demo a first come first serve kinda affair? I live in Monterey so would definitely be into checking out the new plates if you come down this way.
Yup it's gonna take much more energy because the DS125 is a wider beam...thus more light and more energy. Either way i've found the DS50 to be plenty powerful for my uses...but i'm no strobe expert so guide number and color temperature pretty much go over my head.
Never used the YS-15. Love the DS50. I think it gets overshadowed by people who think it's not powerful enough and go for the DS125 instead. It's actually just as "bright" just doesn't have as wide a beam as the DS125 (someone correct me if i'm wrong here). I like that it's small, takes AA...
This is my Fuji F810. ULCS tray, and arms. Ike DS50 strobe. Mini q40 focus light for night dives (or day dives as dark as night which we sometimes get). It pretty much looks like this:
Except since then i've added a bayonet adapter and a WAL. Also a lens caddy for the WAL and i taped...
There are at least 2 other threads with this same question on the first page of this forum. Search around and you should see the answers people give.
EDIT: Though i would recommend the Fuji E900 + Ikelite housing. ;)
Yeah i just bend my knees a little and use a flutter type kick. I'm no cave diver but i can cruise with my nose practically touching the sand and not stir anything up. I dunno how fast it is but i don't tend to race UW.
I don't have any dives set up this weekend but could be talked into it if anyone's up for a shore dive. I just got back from Cozumel and have forgotten what diving is like on the colder side.

Pretty much sums up my attitude. I like to think i'm capable of believing something is real without poking it. People who harass animals to force a defensive mechanism really irritate me (eg puffer puffing, octopus inking).
I wouldn't take the F10 because of no manual controls. Does the F11 have RAW? If not that would be a deal killer for me. From what i've heard the 7070 isn't in the same class as the F810 (from what i've read the oly line didn't improve much after the 5050 but oly owners could comment on that...
Lol no we don't. Are you saying cows, pigs, turkeys, chickens exist in numbers that are at risk by consumption? It's not true if you are.
Killing and eating whales is not a sustenance activity for Japan. Like many have said it's hugely expensive. It's a LUXURY. Anyone saying anyone...
Lol well i don't eat fish or meat either so i guess i'm also allowed to voice my opinion. BTW saying that anyone who eats meat has no right to oppose killing whales is inane and a cheesy ploy in a discussion.
So if Japanese whaling is so noble and sweet then why do they sail under the...
NO it's not their right. They aren't hunting in Japanese waters, and those aren't Japanese whales. They are the world's whales and Japan has no right to them.
Maybe you guys should think about this a little more before comparing hunting Minke whales to hunting deer. There are tons of deer because we already drove all their natural predators to extinction or near extinction. Thus deer would actually breed to overpopulation. Whales have few predators...
Oh jeez you're right i forgot about the noble Japanese tradition of explosive harpoons and factory ships. Othere nations were whaling long before the Japanese but have managed to move on.
Yup and driving animals to extinction has pretty much happened since modern man.
Steller's Sea cow: discovered 1741 extinct 1768
Dodo: extinct by 1755
Moa: extinct around 1500
Cape Lion: extinct by mid 1800's
"They" even think Mammoth extinction was helped by overhunting.
