I will certainly enjoy the challenge of learning CC. Part of why I did this is because it helps to justify why I live abroad and work hard. It's taking an opportunity I have been given in my life and making the most of it while I can. It's a way of stopping myself wasting the money I earn as an...
Hi Doc.
I certainly think a try dive is a great idea. However I'm a little aware that human nature may mean that I never want to go back to OC and force me into rushing into buying a rebreather like a child at Christmas.
I think you are right in the sense that most of my questions would be...
NAND would love to do some diving. Also bear in mind I have never used a drysuit until my course next week so I have a bit of a learning curve there as well.
My instructor that is taking me for my Trimix course can is a dealer and can train on Triton, JJCCR, REVO and Meg.
I also have access to...
Kevin NM I totally understand where you are coming from. I would agree with you that and have thought about it. Maybe consider doing the OC up to 65m and get some dives under my belt at those depth before TX gets too expensive? Maybe GUE Tech 1 then move onto to rebreathers? All ideas for...
Thanks for the input guys.
Depth Charge - Thank you I have some offers on rebreather try dives and I'll most likely take someone up on one. I feel like if I'm being honest with myself I won't go back to OC after a trydive :). Thanks.
Johnny C - Thanks for the Input. I will be doing at least 25...
Ok Guys I'm looking for some input from experienced rebreather divers on whether or not you think its a good idea to get it rebreather diving or not?
My situation currently (being honest). Please try not to judge me to badly :/.
I have around 130 dives currently and have been diving about 1...
I would only ever use a back up to get out of the water safely. I would just can my diving for the day if my primary broke or take do a conservative dive. I am of the opinion that unless you are doing Tech or cave there is absolutely no need for a back up. Its over kill IMO. However each to...
This video by DAN South Africa (Simon Mitchell) is really useful for explaining where these algos work and where they came from. Give it a watch.
Stay within your limits and you will be safe.
Why not run the back up in Gauge mode?
If your other computer craps out (extremely highly unlikely) then just make a safe accent (9m/min) until your normal safety stop depth, carry out an extended safety stop and surface.
For normal recreational OW diving I don't even carry a back up depth...
I would suggest getting a Halcyon Ecilpse. I really like Halcyon because of their customer service and their gear always seem fit for purpose. I mean they all dive what they sell so they take the time to get it right.
I would suggest a steel plate unless you are planning on travelling a lot...
Hi guys,
I'm trying to build a twinset but I'm having a nightmare. I live in Saudi Arabia and I recently purchased two luxfer AL80 tanks.
I went to purchase the valves and manifold from the UK (I normally get stuff imported) but the dive shop have said that they don't have the correct valves...
Sad News.
Manchester area dive shop divelife have gone into liquidation.
From their facebook:-
"Dear Friends and Customers
Unfortunately, DiveLife is no longer in service. We have tried to revive this shop from the bottom for the last two years; however, the changes we intended to make did...
I wear a citizen dive watch. It is a simple device with a good lume, clear hands and time only. I wear it because it's my watch rather than as a piece of diving equipment. It's as useful on the boat/shore as in the water.
I prefer to keep my perdix bt as uncluttered as possible so don't have...
hi guys,
I love and work in Saudi Arabia and I dive here a lot. However technical diving here is fairly hard to come by.
My wife lives in UAE where there is good technical diving available.
I want to buy a DPV but I'm a little confused about travel requirements.
I was looking at Suex XJoy...
It is assembled in the same way as my OMS Harness was and how it came from halcyon. I did not have the same thing with my OMS Harness.
The sliders are behind the plate where the cinch
System goes.
I'm at work but when I get back I'll make a video and show you what I mean.
It is Halcyon...
