    Backplate and Wing Round Table

I understand exactly how they are meant to work and I know for sure they are set up correctly. I'm merely pointing out they can move during a dive or if you pull them hard enough. They don't move when placed on webbing (hip/shoulder d rings for example) but when on the back plate they can shift...

    Backplate and Wing Round Table

I can actually adjust my straps just using the tri sliders if you pull hard enough and in the right direction. I'm actually not joking I have halcyon anniversary plate and steel tri glides

    Single Tank Wings

Be careful switching brands I have had some that don't quite fit. For example a Hollis wing wouldn't fit on an OMS backplate etc. Search Innerspace explorers backplate on YouTube I'm sure he mentions the standard between the holes on there.

    Redundancy

You haven't meantioned what agency and level but in all honesty I'd sling the pony and spend the money on training with a reputable diving agency. Also try posting on here when you are organising trips to see if you can get buddies and try to build up some solid individuals that you trust...

    Renting Nitrox Question

I think you need to decide if you are going to dive the tables or a computer. If you are going to use the computer then get them to set it to the right mix. If you are going to use tables then stick the computer in bottom timer and crack on. Most people use a computer these days they are very...

    Shearwater Perdix AI

To be fair if it creates a lot of lower priced non AI perdix that won't be a bad thing :) Very expensive bottom timer ;)

    Shearwater Perdix AI

I use sub surface now but I much prefer the shearwater software. I can't get on with the UI of subsurface although I have used it up to this point. I've now capped subsurface and I'm switching to the shearwater log. Also they way you are selling it I feel like I might be using a different...

    Renting Nitrox Question

You do realise that you can't just say 'Don't take any offence' and not offend people. :p At least the OP has actually come forward with his reservations and is getting some advice. The fact that they bothered to compare their dive profile on their computer with a table alone is comedable and...

    Shearwater Perdix AI

I think it's a great move from SW. Hopefully these quality products will get into more people's hand. Personally I would never use AI but I can see the appeal especially in single tank diving. I'm more excited about the cloud storage for my dive logs. Be really nice to see some phone/tablet...

How do you rig and use your doubles?

Likewise a failure in the manifold means I still have to plan for half gas. However I prefer to access all my gas without having to feather the valve. I'm not saying it's right it's just my reasoning. Like it said the day I'm having to remove my doubles to get where I want to go and I'll be...

How do you rig and use your doubles?

I flew longer than that to attend my course but again it depends on how much you want the training really. I would suggest that sidemount is great but it takes a lot of jiggery to get it right. Its good if your local instructor can guide you but learning yourself is pretty hard. Not impossible...

How do you rig and use your doubles?

I would recommend seeing if any GUE instructors in your area offer the Doubles Primer. I did this and it showed me a lot about configuration and particularly getting the weight right. Also it will show you which equipment is right which will save you money in the long run or prevent you from...

First set of regulators for a newbie?

Depends if his instructor taught him to use tables or not. It's possible to do Open Water on computer only now. I agree that he shouldn't go overboard on a computer though. Even the most the basic models give what is necessary.

    Apparently hovering is physically impossible

Best way to work on your buoyancy? Think less, do more. More dives and it will click.

Talk me *OUT* of a BP/W setup

I quite agree. I am on the backplate and wing side of the fence but it's a personal choice. The absolute best thing to do is find someone who will lend you a no and wing and set it up for you and go and try it out. I think a lot of halcyon dealers have a try before you buy option. I will...

First set of regulators for a newbie?

Also don't be afraid to go second hand with a computer they are pretty reliable but I have been burnt with second hand regulators before. Don't get a console just use a quality brass spg. Instruments are better off on the arms where you can see them.

First set of regulators for a newbie?

Hi Jose, For your first set of regulators don't panic too much just get a quality set. I would recommend going new rather than second hand if you can afford it. Apeks, Scubapro, Hollis, Halcyon etc. They will work fine. I wouldn't recommend going for the top line either. Something like an...
