New Shearwater Cloud (Mac) Version Doesn't Work

You might try contacting Shearwater directly. I've not had this specific issue with Shearwater Cloud, but a few years back I inadvertently installed the wrong firmware update into my EX Predator. Within 20 minutes of contacting Shearwater, they sent me a software patch via email. It worked...

    Covid-19 Travel Restrictions

Thank you for the update @lermontov I'm scheduled to arrive there in late May, and the report you posted notes specific changes to the protocols that have been in place for entry to the FSM since last month. I clicked the "like" tab on your post, not because it is pleasing, but because you...

Please Help Me Select Dive Operators for the Goliath Grouper Aggregation

Underwater Explorers is my usual go-to operation in Boynton. Can’t go wrong with Capt. Kevin, and as you’ve already noted, he’s running the only 6 pack that I’m aware of out of Boynton. For years, the Castor wreck has been my most reliable dive site there for Goliath encounters, but the bow of...

Is Coronavirus keeping you from booking liveaboard/overseas trips this year?

While not terribly concerned with getting ill myself, I have several friends and one family member with immunodeficiencies, and am in close proximity to many other people daily. I would hate to be the cause of someone else contracting the virus through personal transmission. I just returned...

Does anyone use a Waterproof WPAD pocket?

I purchased one about two months ago and have made a few dozen dives with it. No particularly negative issues have become apparent yet, and it seems fairly sturdy. I have not put anything very heavy in it, using it primarily as a stowage place for a hefty line that I clip onto my camera rig, and...

Pompano Dive Center and charters going out of business...

Good news/bad news Apparently the new owners of Sand’s Harbor are not the only members of South Florida society who are intimidated, frightened, offended, or otherwise averse to Adam’s facial hair. Good news: Adam has secured a full time position outside of the dive industry. He’s glad to have...

Pompano Dive Center and charters going out of business...

According to my understanding, this saga has been in the works since before this past Thanksgiving, when PDC opted out of their status as a Scubapro dealership. At that time the scuttlebutt was that PDC did not wish to be in direct competition with other gear retailers, as these same retailers...

    Custom Wetsuits in Florida

Back in '99 they were known as Aquatic Wetsuits. Same principals now, and the same location, just a different name. There is usually not much off-the-rack inventory on hand at the shop. I've been wearing their products for over 25 years and have always been more than satisfied with their custom...

    AI transmitter

I remove transmitters for air travel. Regs, (with plugs in the HP ports,) go in check in bags, and transmitters are either stowed in a a small hard case with spare parts and such as check in, or put in my carry on. Only other time that I remove them is for battery changes.

    Rebreathers for short divers

Overall, I agree with @kierentec Much as I read about try dives, it is not always easy to arrange such experiences. Even where I live in SE Florida, the chances I’ve had to try different units are few. I’d love to try a Defender, SF2, Liberty, JJ, and lord knows what. With that in mind, and...

processing software? what do you use?

Hi @scottyd You’re probably not going to like reading my post because it does not provide you with the solution that you want to find. I’m a commercial photographer, and while I’ve experimented with a few other “semi-serious” digital darkroom programs, in my experience there is simply no other...

Great White and Mola season in NE FL

Some of my friends saw a Mola earlier this week near the surface during a night drift dive off of West Palm. They were all diving with cameras equipped with macro lenses, so there were a few photographs made of a large eyeball.

    Shearwater Teric vs. Perdix

Hi @applecorps As I promised several days ago, I used my Choetech pad to charge my Teric yesterday. Once the Teric reached a full charge, I left it on the pad an additional 15 minutes or so. When I took it off, the Teric still showed a full charge, but was noticeably warm. As I’ve not had any...

Ballast change from 50F to 80F water?

Agree with this, with one minor modification. If you’re planning on making around 30 dives over the course of 7 days in 78 degree water, you might consider wearing a full body 3mm suit. This will help keep you warm and provide protection from any stingy things floating around. In warm water I...

    Shearwater Teric vs. Perdix

I don’t really know the answer to your question applecorps. I use the Shearwater cradle while I’m at home, and the Choetech when traveling. (One less item to pack.) I just took my Teric off of the cradle an hour or so ago, but will use the wireless pad the next time I need to charge it and...

    Shearwater Teric vs. Perdix

Hi applecorps. If you are the photo pro that I’m thinking of, we’ve met before on the big green boat in Jupiter, and you showed me around your studio. I don’t recall if Shearwater recommended the specific charger that I acquired, but I’ve been using a basic one under the Choetech brand for...

    Hydroid Aquabreather

Since its’ introduction in the 1965 movie Thunderball, I’ve been waiting for James Bond’s “Mini-B” scuba system, (the tiny SCUBA unit that could fit inside of a cigar tube), to arrive on the commercial market. Thus far I’ve been waiting in vain. It would be a bit ironic if the SPECTRE or SMERSH...

Teric not Accepted as Primary Dive Computer?

While I’ve not seen the OP confirm that John Chatterton is indeed the instructor that he was considering studying with, I’ll presume that he is indeed the person being referred to. I know that John requires that his students use specific Shearwater computers as their primary instrumentation...
