That's the way it reads to me too. Either way, I fail to understand the logic that the answer to an excessive rate of gun deaths is to have more people carrying guns.

Automobiles - essential to society, bring many benefits - associated deaths pretty well ALL accidental. Cars aren't designed to injure/kill. Falls, choking, poisoning - :censored: happens Drowning - almost always accidental. We need water and it's an unavoidable part of our living...

    Cleaning Your Gear

That's a bit harsh, he only said that he doesn't like salt in his gear...And living where he does, he'd be the expert on salt. If he hangs his wettie on the line, it would have more salt on it overnight than after he took it out of the Spencer Guilf.;)

    Cleaning Your Gear

Definitely saw lights way off on the horizon, one of the civvie range staff told us what it was......maybe it was Olympic Dam then - the two mines are connected aren't they? Same ore body anyway. It was def. one of the mines though, not the township where you live. The troopies you see there...

Ah right you are then. How close by is it? It looked right it was right next door on TV. Must freak the asylum seekers out hearing HE rounds going off all hours of the day & night. We used to live fire over there a fair bit when I was in Mortar Platoon. Cultana was one of the few places we went...

    Cleaning Your Gear

Where do you dive? Eyre Peninsula? I was there about 10 years ago when I was in the Army Reserve (12/40 Bn, Royal Tasmania Regt). We used to stay at El Alamein Camp in the Cultana Training Area, now Baxter Detention Centre. What a s__thole. About 7 or 8kms out of Port Agutta. Couldn't believe...

    Cleaning Your Gear

Knowing what some of the dirty bast__ds who dive in wetties get up to, I'd be more concerned about the ammonia-nitrogen content than a bit of clay. Richard (Dry Suit Diver)

    Cleaning Your Gear

I have a big blue plastic 44 Gallon drum (food grade from the local "pure" fruit juice manufacturer). I reconnect my regulators to cylinders, turn the air on, stand em upright in the 44, put the hose on to fill it up so the regulator first stages are completely covered, then let them soak for...

    Conjugating the verb "to dive"

It is indeed. In fact a pigeon is a dove too, one which $hits on you from a great height and makes you look very silly. And I think this one's a definite pigeon. The only place I've ever heard "dove" in the context of diving in the past tense is on here and other US-based fora. I guess you...

    diving from center console

To be honest, I've forgotten the make but I think it's manufactured locally here in Tasmania, I know the motor is an Optimax, 115HP, I think. The cockpit on it is huge, like being in the back of an F250, loads of room to chuck your gear around. The photo was taken at Isle de Phoques off the...

    diving from center console

Agreed. This is our club's 19ft aluminium cuddy, carries 4 divers + 8 cylinders + gear quite happily. The cuddy cab is just an covered area to store gear, no beds, portapottis etc. (Portapotti? Who needs one - Just hang it over the side!)

    Scuba-L Cratos(Orion) Back-inflate BCD

Intereasting. This is the email I sent to ScubaL and reply received on that subject yesterday: "Dear Richard, Thanks for your inquiry! Cratos and Orion are the same styles of Back Inflation. Therefore, crotch strap for Orion also can be used with Cratos. Cratos has both clip and velcro as...

    spare air

As I remember, I was having a squiz at their gear, which was pretty fancily rigged out, asked a few questions and they told me they were DIR divers, which intrigued me at the time, because I'd heard the term but had no idea what it mean't, that's why I remember. And not many Aussies (not native...

    Scuba-L Cratos(Orion) Back-inflate BCD

Hmmm. That's interesting, the webpage for the Cratos definitely shows the weight pockets as having clips as well as velcro. http://www.scubal.com/worldwide/content/index.php?proid=1160&catid=806&procatid=263 No probs for me anyway, I don't use the WI feature on y BC, prefer a H-pattern weight...

Well they looked a bit like that bloke in your Avatar as I remember. Wouldn't have trusted em in the shower though, not without a rescue boat anyway.
