    GEM recreational rebreather

Sure... with a SCR your FO2/PO2 is constantly changing, so you can't just set your nitrox computer for a specific mix or even a set PO2. For some reason most manufactures only sell o2 monitoring as an option.

Getting Started - Where to Combine PADI IDC/HSA and CCR?

I wouldn't do both at the same time... I'm in the middle of my CCR training and the skill/knowledge sets are completely different. Pick one and head in that direction for a while.

    Horrible Customer Service Experience

I treat my DSS wing (which I bought in 2005/6 and use regularly) like Ike with Tina... never once had an issue with it.

    How things have changed

It was a different time... without the Captain, I don't think society would be at the level of awareness it is at now over the condition of the oceans. The Silent Word was revolutionary for what it was at the time.

    GEM recreational rebreather

I guess the biggest similarity would be the "sweeping change" in recreational diving. But even as an air extender, you are still looking at the same issues of any rebreather (hypoxia, hypercapnia, flooded scrubber, etc.) and now you are also dealing with an inconsistent nitrogen loading...

    GEM recreational rebreather

Kinda like the Dolphin/Atlantis and the Drager Ray? I've always seen a SCR as having all of the problems, but none of the benefits of a CCR.

Scuba Police @ Philadelphia Quarry, TN (Lambertsen rebreather trials)

I was at an Easter Egg dive once and overheard a man describe my Mistral (USD type) to his wife as an antique rebreather.

Scuba Police @ Philadelphia Quarry, TN (Lambertsen rebreather trials)

I'm sure it could have been said a little different, but he does have a point. It's hard enough to get on a dive boat nowadays with my Phoenix running in perfect order... but as soon as I take my hoses off for storage, I'm told to never bring it again because they "fall apart too easy". When...

    Oahu Diving

I'd love to give you some advice for Oahu (lived there for 8 years), but it looks like you have already made up your mind that it is gonna suck.

As long as the valve is removed, you shouldn't have a problem... I would just worry about thw weight issues.

Does peeing in a wetsuit cause health problems?

Peeing in the wetsuit is not only ok, but encouraged, just as long all you clean it yourself... much more desirable than the dreaded WARHAMMER

    Happy Birthday Captain Cousteau!!!

Today the Captain turns 100. TCM is showing his documentaries all day today... I'll be wearing the red cap in his honor today.

    Wayne County

I'll be visiting the family in early June. I was wondering if there are any charter boats out of either the Sodus/Wolcott area or Oswego.

anyone have experience with pinnacle wetsuits?

You could go with a farmer john style suit... wear only the layers you need. While Pinnacles are nice suits, buy what you need, not what your instructor is trying to feed you. What does your instructor wear while teaching... that would give you a better idea of what you need.
