    Nitrox mixes above 40%?

I guess I'll go back to my original observation about so called rebreather 'experts'. I currently dive a rEvo. On my rEvo I have 3 completely independent ways of monitoring my ppO2. With that, I can also add O2 and diluent in 3 different ways. If there is an issue with either onboard bottle, I...

    Nitrox mixes above 40%?

Well gee Flots... I guess I should just give up on my rebreather now.

    Nitrox mixes above 40%?

I love reading about the dangers of rebreathers from the those who have never even dove one. If you want facts from an expert, check out Mel Clark's book 'Rebreathers Simplified'. 'Facts' from so called internet experts are much more dangerous than rebreathers!

    Becoming a female navy diver?

As far as the contract goes, be sure that the Diver 'A' school is in your enlistment contract. If that is the case, you will be given the opportunity to take the physical test to get into the school. If you are unable to pass or fail out of the school, then you are at the needs of the Navy. You...

    Atomic Armada-Bikini Atoll

PLEASE HELP! On July 25, 1946 the U.S. detonated the Baker atomic bomb, a 23-kiloton underwater blast, at Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands in the Pacific. 96 vessels (surface and submarine) were anchored in the atoll to test the effects of the atomic explosion. Many are of historic...

Why did you choose your rebreather?

Ughhh... It pains me every time I see this... Jeff, I'll bite that you may have been a Marine in the SEALs... but you said that was for a brief period during the Vietnam War (lets assume you got out in '79). So if your buddy served with you that meant he's been in the Navy for at least 34...

Mares Puck Air failed during dive

It was most likely the manager you talked to, not the owner... even so, I also wonder why they are still open. Even though it is a drive, Tacoma Scuba is a FAR superior shop to do business with.

    Bought DSS, now configure DSS

With DSS you even have the weights that attach to the backplate. I also recommend attaching the pockets to your exposure suit.

    rebreather ????

It's not about logging dives, you have to get past alot of those skills and instincts that you have already developed.

    rebreather ????

I would agree that buoyancy takes a little to figure out (I was fine after a couple of dives)... My biggest regret is I didn't get into rebreathers earlier. As far as rebreatherworld, you get what you get... You definitely get better information than you do here on Scubaboard. I am still...

    rebreather ????

I have a rEvo, and I travel with it as carry-on. In fact many rebreathers nowadays are designed with travel in mind. I don't know much about the Poseidon, but it is a recreational rebreather and not meant for anything deeper than recreational depths. Some pretty good info can be found on Jill...

    What to expect?

Does a rebreather require your attention to dive it? Sure, but it's a machine... a rebreather doesn't stay awake at night thinking of ways to kill you. and I would say maybe more scuba gear should tell you its dangerous. Again, put some hours on one instead of repeating what others are saying...

    What to expect?

I love statements like this... I'm guessing you do not have alot of hands-on CCR experience... I find that I have more options to remedy situations than I do on open circuit. I am enjoying finding new ways to deal with the same problems. An example is during my class, my buddy had a...

Almost went into deco off Islamorada

Complacency will kill you... that would make this thread more appropriate for this forum. As the OP said... staying proactive during your dive is better approach. I agree with TS&M completely. All dives are deco dives. Going into deco is not the issue… piss-poor planning seems to be.
