Not so much here on the Kitsap side, although there is a small group of us that dive fairly local sites (I'm in Poulsbo). I heard that Exotic Aquatics started doing charters again, but good luck diving solo.
I have the same issue withy rEvo mouthpiece, but my issues happen with the first couple of minutes on the dive. I've tried hydrating a little more before my dives with varying results.
Awesome and welcome to the dark side! Pretty soon all of those buoyancy skills that were second nature with open circuit will go away and you'll get ahold of the CCR buoyancy. Next time you hop on open circuit, you'll look like you are straight out of Open Water.
I'd be curious what the numbers are for cave & deep wreck diving on open circuit 15-20 years ago, back when a majority of the dives were done on air. I will hazard to say that these incidents have much more to do with the types of dives vs the actual units themselves...
I'm from the PNW and I use argon on most dives in the winter. I find that it is easier to use a 6cuft bottle for my dry suit than run off my bailout bottle, which may contain trimix. I used to be in the 'placebo effect' camp until I started flushing my suit with argon prior to the dive.
Contrary to what I'm sure you were taught in your open water class, dive knives are weapons, not tools. The larger your knife, the manlier you are. Nothing says that you are a 'Denison of the Deep' more than a large chunk of sharpened stainless steel strapped to your leg. You should be the one...
Don't disregard the double hose regulators. Mike Nelson once said that Men dove with double hose regulators and women and children dive with single hoses.
I used to rebuild then dive them when I was stationed in Hawaii.
Come on, don't flatter yourself. It's hard to take someone seriously when they use an analog gage from the 70's to make sure their dive computer and/or the TSA don't try to take advantage of them.
Since I couldn't dive today, I decided to secretly record my rEvo with the gopro. After reviewing the video I was amazed to see that the rebreather was only sitting there, not plotting to kill me when I least suspect it. Of course shortly after I realized how silly I was being. I guess I...
A lot of technical stuff has been thrown out here, but it all comes down to compliance. From not checking your ppO2 enough, not doing the predive checklist, or even not having a bailout bottle if an emergency does occur. I dive my rebreather like it is a girlfriend who once cheated on me. I'm...
