Mexico - Air Travel Exit Process

We just came home last night from Coz on American Air. No one was asking for any $$$. All they (AA) wanted to see was your negative Covid Test on paper before issuing your boarding passes. After that no one else asked to see the test results. Had the same experience coming back from Cabo last...

    ATM vagaries

At the current exchange rate it's a $25 bill (USD). No big deal, really. 100 pesos = $5.

Baja California - Road trip Summer ' 21

Yup - totally safe. Stayed in Pulmo for a week the last two years in Fall. Oct/Nov are best months for moderate weather, warm waters. Wife and I walked to/from dinner every night. Bring a flashlight because once it gets dark, there are no streetlights. All the operators there go to the same...

Got my passport renewed in six weeks.

Mailed mine and the missus passports from a suburb of Denver in separate Priority Flat Rate envelopes on December 8. Sent both to the same address in Philly with expedite request and extra payment enclosed. Handed them both at the same time to a postal clerk. Tracking on December 28 had mine in...

Baja California - Road trip Summer ' 21

I have been to Baja 5 times in the last 2 years and just returned from a 1 week stay in Cabo San Lucas. Since you are on a 10-14 timetable and are interested in the diving, I would suggest flying in and out of San Jose Del Cabo (SJD airport code) and renting a car there. Use Cactus rentals...

    Fatality on Rosalie Moller wreck

A good example of this might be a diver who is used to diving in cold, murky conditions accidently dropping a weight. In that environment where the visibility is poor, he might never consider chasing down after it. But if he sees it on the bottom in clear conditions, the temptation to retrieve...

    Should we dive at night?

Agreed. Anyone who is down there with enough candle power to light up an auditorium isn't really night diving. They are actually making it brighter down there than during daytime. Learn to dive at night with minimal lighting, or don't bother at all.

    Sad day for Bonaire

My first and only encounter with Bruce was a year ago. I had bubbles coming out of my recently serviced primary at the beginning of a month long trip. Dive Friends sent me over to his shop where he dropped everything, took it apart and re-seated an improperly positioned "O"-ring. He handed it...

A Cozumel Party With No Coronas- Witnessing An End Of An Era

Agreed - Our large chain grocery store has already posted a sign: "After March 17, NO RETURNS except on perishables that were spoiled at time of purchase". Good luck with those 50 lbs. of frozen chicken thighs and 48 rolls of paper towels!

    Covid-19 Travel Restrictions

Thanks for that info. Family (4 of us) was scheduled to go to Guanaja on April 1. We'd been looking forward to that trip since last September. I checked Honduras Domestic flights earlier today on Flightaware and they've all been cancelled. Not a single plane shown over the Country. Two weeks in...

Bonaire -- Spare Tire Stolen From Truck at Something Special

Five years ago we had the same thing happen to us at ANDREA. My son and I were underwater. My wife was snorkeling 200 feet away and watched them do it -- all in about 30 seconds. They even stole our lunch -- which really ticked us off. We filed a Police Report and notified Poppy (aka Telerin)...

How useful is AOW for Cozumel?

Heck - Why not just get your AOW Certification with the operator you're diving with? It's probably easier and cheaper that way.

    Tipping

Me and the missus were in Fiji for the first time last August. After a 20 minute cab ride which was paid by the resort, I asked the driver if he would be offended if I offered him a tip. He gave me a sincere smile and said: "It's your culture. I can respect that." Gotta love Fiji.

    LCBR really disappointed me today

Having been in the service industry for the past 25 years, I've come to learn that there is essentially no difference between MALICE and INCOMPETENCE. They both look the same to the customer. And both are equally inexcusable. Go as high up the food chain as you can and inform them of the...

    Back to Coz or elsewhere?

We've been to Cobalt Coast 2X in the past year. Easy to get to, affordable accommodations and decent AI meals. Nice property. Varied diving with a really nice house reef. I preferred the (free) shore diving option to the pricey afternoon boat trips. ps: I'm kinda burned out on Coz as well.
