    La Paz water temperatures

Scroll down and you'll see that on average, temp right now is 82 Deg (F). Might be a bit cooler this year since they've been having some heavy rains late summer into Fall. And thermoclines can also be encountered this time of year. La Paz Climate, Weather By Month, Average Temperature (Mexico)...

    Covid Tests

I understand. It's a lot like going thru TSA prior to stepping on a plane. Lots of smoke and mirrors to make us all feel safe. That said, I'd rather have my fellow passengers pass thru a metal detector before sharing a flight with them.

    Covid Tests

Wife and I had to do a quick self-test before boarding the Caribbean Explorer (St. Maarten) in July this year. We were fine with that. To everyone's relief, we were negative and we happily joined the other non-covid passengers and crew. Anyone with covid stepping onto liveaboard should be...

    Taylor Made + Candy Land - Currents/Safety

I have dove those sites multiple times and on different visits. Currents are about the same as the rest of the non-Kralendijk sites. Waves and surge can be issues when the wind speeds and direction are less than favorable. Both sites have serious reef structure (mostly elkhorn) right up to shore...

    "THIRTEEN LIVES" MOVIE REVIEW

Another "Spoiler Alert". I watched it last night. That OOA sequence was tough viewing. I'm guessing that the decision not to portray him as "panicked" was done out of respect for his memory. Does anyone know for sure that he was diving with the classic secondary reg config or was it just...

Trip Report Fiji- May 14-30, 2022

Me and the missus and my son were there in Fall, 2019 for 10 days and loved the place as well. A daily highlight of our stay was the sunset stroll around the "golf course" across the street and a short distance south of the property. Had it all to ourselves every evening. Enjoy!

    Socorro Liveaboard Grounding

One theory: Boat was moored for the night. wind picks up, anchor starts dragging (or mooring breaks), no one is paying attention.

Another shark bite. Looks like on ShearWater

Bahamas dive ops sometimes allow divers to shoot lionfish. That's one possibility which may fit the narrative.

Review Puff Wonders of the Reef. (Netflix)

Just pulled it up last night with my dive partner/missus. Made the mistake of watching it during dinner. Food got cold. We couldn't keep our eyes off the TV screen. Thanks for the recommendation.

    Medical trip insurance covering Covid

We have been using Safetrip from United Healthcare for annual out of country medical coverage. In 2021 it specifically said in the cover letter that COVID was included in the coverage the "same as any other sickness". I did have to call them to add all the possible countries that we planned to...

    El Moro needs help

We haven't been there in a year. When did they take down the "Quiet Zone" signage? (Edit: There never has been any and I hope there NEVER will be.)

    Casa Mexicana Breakfast Question

We were there in May. Breakfast was served at individual tables on the front patio and in the contiguous lobby area. We would go to the front desk the day before and order our breakfast for the next morning "at 7:00am". They would hand us a menu and we'd write down on a sheet of paper (along...

    Covid testing in Cozumel

A mo One month ago we also stayed at Casa Mex and dove 3P. I walked all over the place one morning tracking down all the "bargain" Farmacias that folks on ScubaBoard were touting prior to my visit. All kept pointing me to someone else -- until, SURPRISE", I was right back where I started after...

Mexico - Air Travel Exit Process

See post #34 -- to which I'll add... My experience traveling so far has been that these new travel apps are a work in progress -- including VERIFLY. A couple of us downloaded it and later tried to use it -- mostly out of curiosity. Couldn't even get past step 1. Paper is and always will be your...
