Agreed. The only time an AA flight attendant smiles is when they see something funny on their smartphone.

    BONAIRE Expedition Video (4K)

I'm guessing that the yellow frogfish on the purple tube sponge which appears at 1:25 of the video might be the one we saw at Bari Reef. We found it at 40' depth in early September heading south from the Sand Dollar pier. For all I know it's still there. Happy hunting !!!

    Should I get insurance?

I don't believe that Medicaid or Medicare will cover you for anything outside the USA -- so you're probably good as long as you stay local as you've stated.

Perhaps they've just given up trying to manage an unmanageable situation.

Suggestions for diving day trips from Cairns (Great Barrier Reef)

Last December my son and I did a day trip with these folks -- who are south of Cairns. The boat accommodates divers and snorkelers on the same trip with a nice meal in-between dives/snorks(?) Reefs (all shallow and surrounded by sand) were okay. About as good as anything you'll see on a day...

Trip Report Aboard MV Fling 5 Day REEF AAT Trip

Thanks for that precise answer. With the "dumpster" of information out there in Google-land, I was finding it nearly impossible to nail down a single product that checked all the boxes. The fact that it is available in non-liquid form makes it perfect for international travel. I just ordered a...

Trip Report Aboard MV Fling 5 Day REEF AAT Trip

We arrived for boarding at 1930 on July 30, 2023. The first thing they had everybody do is disinfect their gear in large tubs. A precautionary step not to bring any infectious diseases to the corals out at the Flower Gardens. Do you know what was used for disinfectant? I'm going to Bonaire next...

Diving and snorkeling options from a sailboat

Been on this with my non-diving, but snorkeling better half. If it fits your price range, you can't go wrong. Very accommodating to non-divers. https://allstarliveaboards.com/aqua-cat-liveaboard-diving/

    Cairns Liveaboard Diving

I was also on the SOF last November and, as someone who has been on at least 10 other liveaboards, the "Fin" thing was a new experience for me as well. After a few dives I realized the logic behind it since it got us all into the water a LOT faster than if everyone had to put on their own at...

    First Time to Fiji….

Been to both Volivoli and Taveuni Island's Rainbow Reef. Week at each. I agree with previous posters. By all means go to Taveuni if you can. At Volivoli, the best diving was where the Naii spent a couple of days anchored in the protected waters - which were a good 45 min boat ride from the...

Trip Report Bonaire and Curacao Trip Report March 18- April 10

I have to chime in here as well. I've been a Dive Friends fan as a result of multiple trips to Bonaire prior to our 6-week stay in February. There is an older woman at the Yellow Sub location who I assume is the Manager who has absolutely no people skills whatsoever. Prior to retirement, my wife...

Menu suggestions for a 2 week stay

Google: "Van Den Tweel" and pull it up on the map. You will also see "Warehouse Bonaire" and "Bon Di Gro" along the same road: Kaya Industria". EU standards items in the first, local produce (from So. America nearby) in the second and more of the same in the 3rd. Anything you can find in the US...

Avatar Way of Water any good?

Wife and I (both divers) saw it last Thursday in 3-D IMAX. Closest thing to diving without getting wet. It's a long: 3hrs, 10 min run time. First third is in the forest and sets-up the story line. Once they get to the tropics, it becomes almost magical. Do your best not to get hung up on the...

    No Need for the FMM?

Just flew down and back to Cabo from Phoenix for a few days. Only had to fill out the Customs Declaration coming into Mexico which was passed out on board before landing -- one for each family group. No other paperwork or tiny cards that can get lost while you're in the Country. Yay !!!
