    Diving and Vioxx

I used Vioxx for about 3 years and dived about 40-50 dives per year with no problems. I had to quit taking it (doc's best guess that I developed an allergy to Vioxx but unrelated to diving). You might call DAN or look at their web site. Robin

Who actually used a "safety sausage"

Red Sea--Egyptian crew. Briefed to go no deeeper than the cable attached to the reef as a safety measure (and because of high current, grab hold of the cable and then ascend). You guessed it--no cable (but signs of wehre it had noce been...) Three of us then caught in a VERY rapid upcurrent...

Trip Report from boat dive off Fl west coast

Where specifically did you dive? I dive Panama City and while it can't be called world class I almost always have nice, relaxing dives with stuff to see. I guess that's Florida West Coast... Robin

    Avoiding ear problems on liveaboard

I am not a chemist, but I trust all the many docs who have told me, vinegar yes, alcohol no. Have you ever washed your face in alochol-based astringent? Try it, 3x a day for a few days, and see how your face likes it (most don't like it at all!) Your ears are even more delicate (no matter...

    Bad Hood

:10: I have a hyperstretch 3 mil hood. Insanely comfortable (and the only one I can find in XS). Not insanely warm, however. Feels like a 1 or 2 mil. Go for the 7/5. Even in 3 mil in 75F water I am chilly on my noggin. But mention ice cubes around me and I get cold! Robin

    Avoiding ear problems on liveaboard

Having been on numeous liveaboards and multi-day diving experiences, I can assure you ears can be a problem. A diving doctor told me long ago to get Domeboro's otic. Use it after EVERY dive, he said. A few drops in each each, wait five minutes -- NO CHEATING on time. Current doc says a 50/50...

    Ear infections?

it happens in salt water too. Did she treat you for the infection? Get that treated first. A diving doc told me years ago to NOT use alcohol/vinegar solutions. He prescribed Domeboro's Otic. 5 minutes per ear post diving, no cheating on times. Current doc says use 50/50 white vinegar...

    Cleaning a wetsuit? wetsuit shampoo?

Why? I used to know the guy who invented it--he was a regular on Compuserve's scuba forum for a long time and I met him in Florida. Robin

    Bad Dive trip

I find that it is frequent. We've been expected to stay with the group in Coz, Grand Cayman, Honduras and PNG, to name the ones I can think of off the top of my head, and all DM took us to 100+ feet. My dive buddy/husband and I are experienced and stay within sight of the group but we don't do...

Do you wear your "rings" diving??

I wear my wedding band only (used to take it off but for soem reason, even though it's not super snug, it never budges). I do not wear my diamond because of the snagging, as mentioned, and because glittery things can atttract fishies with big teeth (which is OK sometimes but only when I want...

    Scubapro Ladyhawk BC

Having dealt with ScubaPro (thousands of years aog but still...) they will ask if you have spoken to the owner of the shop first. If that's who gave you the run-around, then do contact SP. I had a non-SP technician service my reg (I turned it in for annual at the shop where I bought it, then...

    Howdy all!

Welcome from another Bama resident. I'm in Montgomery. We lived to dive Panama City when we're not packing suitcases and standing in long lines at the airport to go someplace exotic and full of mosquitoes. Which dive shop do you like there? Robin

    How old is this Zeagle?

UIm, how do I prove original ownership o the one I have? I don't remember filling in a warranty card but that was 1990. I don't remember a lot that happened last week either. It would be nice to have the fraying straps on mine fixed. It's too big for me but I still like it. Robin
