    I like guns.

I've used a Daewoo USAS-12 with a drum mag before. Knew a guy who was married to a former high up in Abercrombie and Fitch. She cashed out her stock options a lot. Dude was worth millions and had all kinds of kick ass Class III stuff. It was a great gun. You could take down trees with it. Go...

    safe diver ?

If you had one pool dive and then did 4 OW dives for open water it sounds rushed. How long was the pool dive? Did you do knowledge reviews, quizzes and exam? How did you guys do on them? I haven't heard anything bad about the Aqualung Titan or the Pro BCD, although I don't really travel in the...

    How are Certification Agencies made?

I wonder how much business they actually do. That's incredibly ridiculous.

Open Water with Referrals, SSI + PADI?

That's true of any shop. If you do part of your class at one shop and finish it somewhere else, you pretty much will always pay more overall for the certification. That applies regardless of eLearning or not.

Open Water with Referrals, SSI + PADI?

No. You can't. ---------- Post added September 27th, 2013 at 06:10 PM ---------- You CAN however certify in full at your hometown via SSI and then dive with a PADI shop at your destination

Old Commercial Diver w/34 year old cert

You must have missed the part where the OP said his father hadn't been diving in 32 years. Diving continuously is one thing. Not diving for over 3 decades is different. I've seen people's in-water skills degrade in just a few months of not diving. How do you think he'll do after 32 years...

    How are Certification Agencies made?

AHHHHH that's true! We must have went to the same place because the FIRST question they had when we asked to go diving was "who's paying?". I spend a lot of time in Grenada and I know all the shops. I know exactly where you were

Old Commercial Diver w/34 year old cert

For us $434 is all inclusive with regard to academics, fees, water time, gear, etc. We don't require the purchase of mask, snorkel, fins, boots, and a 3mm for the course. In fact, we don't require purchase of any gear for OW. Anyone can jack the number up by throwing in other stuff. The OP...

Scuba spearfishing allowed in the US?

New Mexico spearfishing = Identical limits and laws as though you were fishing with a pole Just don't talk to the competitive anglers about it. They get kinda mad when you show them pictures of small mouth bass that you've shot that are huge. They call it "cheating". I call it "hunting" and...

    How are Certification Agencies made?

As said, anyone with a card printer can start printing certifications. You should test the theory of how easy it is. Print yourself a card with your new agency and logo on it. Then take it to EVERY SINGLE DIVE SHOP you can find and see how many will take you on a dive, rent you gear, fill your...

Old Commercial Diver w/34 year old cert

As said before...4 yrs of surface supplied diving 32 yrs ago. The fact this is even a question is scary.

    safe diver ?

Alarms aren't ringing at the fact you did it at a resort. That's fairly common. What you say above is what sets off alarms. What agency is this through? Also, what rating did you get? If this was a PADI certification, was it Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver?

    GoPro Hero 3 Flooded

So if the majority of us are wrong in defending the camera housing because the number of successes it has had, how does that justify you "immediately jumping to conclusion that all GoPro housings are bad"? Pot, meet tea kettle. I'd say your jumping to conclusions based on a circumstance that...

    Dive Master Certification

Some people don't even log dives. It's a matter of personal preference. As boulderjohn said, the instructor verifies it, not PADI. When I did DM the instructors already knew I was over the minimum number based on how much diving I had done with them. PADI won't ask you for a logbook and if you...

Mask, online purchasing, and eyeglasses :)

Fit is the biggest thing to worry about. We sell the Scubamax Navigator which tends to fit quite a bit of faces. Seems to me that with bifocal reading lenses they're around $70-80 and we install them for free.

Taking off the grate to explore the Blue Hole

It's a miracle Stella has what she has now. She was supposed to have a space in the new building but then they never opened it up for anything and her space was something akin to a closet. Oh, that reminds me (since I'm on the topic of the City)! I was about to enter the water with a buddy and 4...
