    attempt a world record ??

Be prepared for a good amount of recovery, IV fluids, etc, for a while after the dive. As someone mentioned earlier, it will take a lot out of you physically regardless of fixed point or moving.

Rescue Diver Course - I can't recommend it based on my recent experience

I would say that two dozen dives doesn't come close to being a "highly honed skill set". If he didn't want to do rescue then he shouldn't have done it. He wanted a smooth ride and to purchase a certification. He ended up getting an experience that stressed him. Only a fool would say that a real...

Rescue Diver Course - I can't recommend it based on my recent experience

Dale, are you even trying to make a point or are you just venting due to some sort of unhappy personal experience? On one hand you say that the OP shouldn't have been subjected to, what he describes, as being a horrible experience. Then you turn around and say it's good that he got the...

    We might stop diving

Hit the nail on the head with that one. Scared? Don't do it. End of story. To make a public testament about it in the hopes someone will change your mind about it is even more dangerous should you choose to change your mind and then have a panic attack while underwater.

Rescue Diver Course - I can't recommend it based on my recent experience

^ Phoenix should know that confined water dives can be done in open water... ---------- Post added October 19th, 2013 at 06:44 PM ---------- I thought your initial post was satire or sarcasm. Nice to see you got everything in a kid-gloves "controlled condition". If everything were...

Rescue Diver Course - I can't recommend it based on my recent experience

So basically what you are saying is that while you are on a leisurely dive with several other divers that none of those things could occur? an out of air situation where the victim pulls out your reg or goes for your face isn't unusual at all. Do you really expect most OOAs to be cool, calm, and...

    Go Pro Gear

Count on needing a red filter and maybe an external light depending on what you are doing. Besides that there really isn't much else. Don't know about the basics you will need to "eat". I store and transport my camera in the housing. Pretty much just throw it in with other gear. They're not...

Looking for some advice on BCD's

Bigger system? I had a student that was about 6'1 with a 62" (he said so himself) waist. If I had to guess he'd be around 350 lbs, maybe more. He ordered a jacket style BCD and it worked for him. I can't remember what we got for him off the top of my head. Pretty sure it was a Sherwood Avid. He...

Instructor dating DM, would I tell students?

It doesn't matter and no one cares. I agree with an earlier post stating that it's pretty much a narcissistic attitude to even think that it is relevant. One of two things is happening here. Either something has happened that made you look bad and you're trying to justify it (as a different...

What is happening with this lionfish?

The runes written in the description of the video indicate cleaning. Not that it means much. Just because it's on the internet doesn't make it true :P

Gold plating on the frame of the mask, auto kicking fins, and enchanted snorkel. That's all I can figure for $400.

Should I buy from my LDS?

If he allows them to buy the used student gear at a deep discount as well then that's an excellent way to cycle out student gear before it gets whipped. Great method with tanks too, especially when they are around 1-2 years out from hydro.

Should I buy from my LDS?

That's why we don't require our students to purchase gear for OW. Instructors and shop owners think we're idiots for it. Customers love it, especially when the only other shop within 200 miles of here requires purchase of M/S/F as well as having OW prices considerably higher.
