    sump fins?

I've been interested in getting a pair of these for my own sump work. They appear longer that I'd need but could probably be cut down easily enough.

O-ring sealing: how to know it’s not overtightened, but still tight enough?

O-rings dont use "tightness" to seal. They rely on the pressure differential causing the material to deform into the space and fill any gaps. My rule of thumb is finger tight for everything then a slight bit extra with a tool to ensure it won't accidently come undone.

Stupid question - why can’t I vacuum seal my PLB?

Hmmm... If you filled the bag with mineral oil then used the vacuum machine to make sure no air bubbles were left in the PLB and sealed it up it'd probably work.

    Best quick release hose clamp

A small cable tie will break away just fine. If you don't trust it practice on land so you can retie a new one. When practicing underwater just get good at unclipping it.

    Helmet, but which one?

Buy a bump cap. Has hard plastic in the front you can drill holes into to mount the torches. Then add a bit of bungy for the chin strap.

My first reel was a 400ft Hollis, which sucked Then I lost it and bought a MGE-TEC 100, which sucked. Then I borrowed a Light Monkey 400ft reel, which was AWESOME! Then I tried to make a reel from a paint roller, which sucked. Now I just use a bit of plastic pipe and slide the entire roll of...

On using a small tank to increase bottom time and provide redundancy

I like this. I assume when you leave bottom you have enough gas in the main to reach surface and not much more? Any trouble on the ascent you switch to the "stony". Much more elegant than partially breathing the pony each time. Reduces the chance of SPG confusion that I was worried about.

On using a small tank to increase bottom time and provide redundancy

This comment is the most ridiculous! By this logic cave, wreck, mine divers should only have one cylinder to reduce failure points. He is in 40ft. He is retaining enough gas in each cyliner to reach the surface on either. His chances of total requipment failure has REDUCED! Your guys only...

Question Hydros Pro for tech diving

Essentially you need to be able to rig two cylinders (plus a deco cylinder if your combining with an advanced nitrox course which most people would do) and have access to the valves for shutdown drills. If you can show that you can do this proficiently and ascend from 40m with all that then go...
