    Missed deco stop, lock out?

The Aeris Mantas that Sue and Kim dive would lock them out for 24 hours, if they were so foolish as to omit mandatory deco. I use Petrel 2s, so no lockout.

    HOG BCD

My sidemount harness is a HOG. No problems adjusting it at all. And, as others have said, you should only need to adjust it once, unless you have a major weight change.

    Wing/exposure suit colour and sharks

It had probably just finished eating someone with a spare air. When you're at the surface, you look like a snack. When you're underwater, (especially when you're blowing bubbles) you don't look appetizing at all. That is a big factor in why surfers get bitten and divers do not.

    Wing/exposure suit colour and sharks

How very sad that you've missed out on diving with sharks for so long.

    Flying after 20ft dive

The MOD for 100% O2 is 20 feet. If you're going by the 1.4 PpO2 limit. If you go by 1.6... At the site in question, it's pretty much impossible to get below that. And keep in mind that the MOD is for a sustained (but not precisely defined) time deeper than that depth. It's not like you're going...

    Camera suggestion needed!

You can't really use a flash for a dive light. Because flash.... I use a red filter and get decent results. I also have a couple of dive lights with wide angle heads that I use at night, or when I don't want to use the filter. Other than that, it's a matter of budget. On the low end, there are...

    Two new studies

Thank you for a very interesting read. I don't dive rebreathers, but I found the IWR paper fascinating.

    YOU ARE ALL URINATORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would be "donec urinae mortale."

    Flying after 20ft dive

I might do it, but I'd do the bridge dive on a high-octane mix. 80-90% O2 would work, if I couldn't get 100%. More likely I'd just book an extra night.

    Cozumel in January?

I wouldn't worry about an El Norte. They're not all that common, even in January or February. And you can always go over to the mainland for some cenote diving, or go dive on the windward side of the island. The only drawback I can see to a January trip, really, is that it's not quite as warm...

    Wing/exposure suit colour and sharks

They're no doubt fine, for a single tank dive with no current. Now go try that with doubles, a couple stages, and some current. And don't forget to back fin a few times, too. I have yet to see anyone back fin with any real success using split fins. Maybe you're just that special one in a million?

    Wing/exposure suit colour and sharks

It was a joke.... it's pretty well accepted that the spare air canister is a total waste, since they don't actually provide enough air to ascend from anything other than the shallowest of dives. And split fins are, likewise, not considered all that stellar an investment by most. But you can...

    Wing/exposure suit colour and sharks

Sharks won't bother you unless you wear split fins, or a spare air.

    YOU ARE ALL URINATORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why? Google translates it as "to dive until mortal", which isn't all that far from "dive till you die" which is the accepted translation.

    Would YOU thumb this dive?

You're barely wet. It wouldn't be unreasonable to try to fix the reg underwater, but if you can't, just get back on the boat, fix or swap the reg, and then do your dive properly.

    YOU ARE ALL URINATORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's remotely possible that I was already aware of the word... Hence the "Urino Donec Mortalis" on my left arm.

    Tipping DM in Coz?

Sheeeesh.... Here I am, saving peoples lives in the ER, and do I get a tip? Nope. All I get are emails from the admins whining about paperwork.

To kill or not to kill lionfish in the Caribbean and Florida?

Sharks, cornetfish, grouper, large eels, frogfish and other scorpionfish are all known to kill and eat Lion Fish in the Indo-Pacific. So it's as much a matter of the Atlantic/Caribbean analogs learning to recognize them as prey as anything else. And there is evidence that this is happening, in...

    Airport shuttle pricing

I do not think they fill the vans based on whether or not you're going to an AI. We've been to Cozumel dozens of times, and the vans have always (as near as I can tell) been filled based on location, not the type of resort.

Why not SPG under the left arm to left Chest D ring?

You must miss a lot of small stuff, then, since there's no way you can see a little pipefish or thousands of other critters from that distance. Do the smaller critters just hold absolutely zero interest for you?
