I use the ZX50 reg for every dive. I dive mostly cold water, and have no complaints at all. I love my reg - no problems w/ free flows, adjustable flow control, easy purge... I haven't used an Apeks, but my Zeagle is a pleasure to dive with and I would recommend it.

Yeah, I absolutely loved the time we spent in and around Kota Kinabalu. I have heard great things about Sipidan, but couldn't make it work on my trip. Actually, I heard that they closed Sipidan - you can still dive there, but you have to go out of Mabul b/c it is now a park - is this correct?
