    Left handed?

To illustrate for you: if you are physiologically able to touch your left nipple with either hand, then it doesn’t matter. If you cannot touch your left nipple with one of your hands, then you might have to think. But in that case I’d imagine you have a different issue at hand <pun>

    Left handed?

No. You can use either hand, it makes zero difference. In recreational diving I would always use my left to inflate. In Tech diving I usually use the right hand, but only because the light is in my left hand and I am sometimes too lazy to swap the light to the right just to inflate. But...

    Left handed?

You can inflate with either hand, doesn’t matter where the inflator is. You can only deflate with the left hand, but if anything it’s a bonus for you as a lefty, because in recreational diving the right hand doesn’t have any job/doesn’t have any equipment to manipulate.

    Left handed?

IMHO there is no reason at all to set up anything differently. In recreational diving you don’t really need much hands, and in tech diving you sometimes need both hands. Not much difference in dexterity required between the different hands. I have never seen a “left handed” setup, and thinking...

SPG gauge has only 4 notches between 0 and 50 bar

Once you are out of the water, there also is another aspect: generally you should try to avoid draining a tank completely. If you always maintain a little pressure (say 20 bar), you can be sure that the tank stays clean, and no water, oil, dirt or whatever gets inside. Some fill stations may...

SPG gauge has only 4 notches between 0 and 50 bar

Short answer: yes. Depending on what you are trying to do, anything less than 40 bar could be called inaccurate (eg minimum gas).

    Clipping SPG on a d-ring

I do pretty much what is shown in the video in post #12. If the D-ring is flat, just find it with your index finger or middle finger. Then curling that finger will automatically place the bolt snap onto the D-ring. In my experience, with a little bit of practice, it becomes automatic, you dont...

    Moving to Europe, regulator question

Since the OP mentioned Germany: beyond what you personally deem safe, you also need to consider local regulations. There isnt a national regulation, but there are local rules for specific dive sites. Sometumes these will mandate two separate first stages, sometimes they wont. OP do you already...

    Future of Helium price?

Some interesting bits of information in here Global Helium Summit 2018 closes Might be a bit biased by the folks selling helium, but still ... Some key take aways: - projection that US based fields will keep producing up to 2021, although output is expected to drop - several new processing...

    Future of Helium price?

I dont think Tech60 makes sense, not the way it is today. It's almost the same duration and cost as T2 (4 days vs 6 days), so you might as well just take T2. I dont know anyone who has, or is planning to take Tech60, everyone just goes for T2. Similar thing for me ... I currently don't see any...

    Deco regs

Same here ... why would you pick a low quality reg for the potentially longest phase of the dive? Even with a good reg I always dislike the feeling of the first few breaths when changing from 18/45 to 50% and you really feel the different work of breathing ... Btw the crappy deco reg is...

    Future of Helium price?

No, I believe he says it’s silly that GUE lowered the entry requirements for the CCR course from previously Tech2 to Tech1, and instead split the CCR class in two. Not sure if it’s a big issue as before and after it’s three course to get to CCR deep (T1+T2+CCR-old vs T1+CCR1+CCR2). New version...

BP/W Harness Packed Up or Down in Dive Crate

I’d think it really doesn’t matter which way round you put it. However, I would think again of leaving it assembled IF you have an alu plate and dive in salt water. You’ll likely find galvanic corrosion between plate and bolt/sta.

    GUE fundamentals

Also watch out for Ghost Fishing outings/events, you’ll likely also find a lot of GUE/DIR folks there

    Sawtooth Profiles

Last graph in the thread (PfcAJs) is in feet. Mine (on prev page) is in meters :-)

    Sawtooth Profiles

I’d make sure to not violate deco ceilings by a wide margin or for long. In PfcAJ’s first profile you can see that the ascend at the 1:45 mark is a lot slower than its mirror image or the ascends before, so I’d suspect thats whats happening there. Other than that, no for me, until my ears...

    Sawtooth Profiles

Deeper than 20m/60ft doesnt bother me so much. But stuff in the 1-12m/3-35ft is a lot more noticable. Like the one above (in meters btw). Bottom line message to the wreck diving question above is: dont worry at all ;-)

Not as deep as PfcAJ, but most painful dive for my ears to date ;-)

    Deep Stops Recreational Divers

I have difficulties getting my head around the red Suunto profile ... its average depth is deeper than the Buhlmann ones, yet it gets you out if the water some 16min earlier. I dont quite understand how this is supposed to work, assuming risk is the same ... Also, while the continuous profile...
