    Premature Surfacing....

The first is not a problem in itself, although the cause of the assent should be determined and corrected. While 'bounce' diving is frowned upon, if you are within No Decompression limits and the assent is 30 ft/min or less, the risk of complications are minimal. The second incident is...

Rant: Why do so many locals insist on backing into parking spots?

It's so when you come back out from shopping and find 2 SUVs the size of M-1 tanks on either side of you, totally blocking your view, you can exit the space with a modicum of safety. I, of course, always nail the spot on the first try, no backing in-n-out.

Ditchable weights...are they needed and is there a minimum?

I split my weights- 7 1/2 in my backpack + a 13 cu pony ; 15 on a belt. At 200 + lbs and a 7 mil suit that gets me down, and the trim is pretty good. Ditchable weights, as has been noted, a subject to accidental ditching. That happened to me last Friday; I was wrestling with a lobster and...

    Am I asking too much?

I haven't done a lot of dive boat trips here, but the ones I have done have been enjoyable. They don't provide the level of service that I've seen at some tropical resorts, but that's fine with me. I think the level of divers they get tends to be more experienced than what you might see at...

Hangin in San Carlos, Sea of Cortez

You don't find tropical corals in the Sea of Cortez north of Cabo Pulmo. The fish life around La Paz is pretty impressive for number and diversity. You can get a cabin on the overnight ferry from Topolobampo for about $50. (644 pesos) that gets in to La Paz in the morning early enough to dive...

Previous owner carved an office out of the 3 car garage and left this 4' deep section behind the garage door; now it's my sports locker. GF's wetsuit hangs inside the house cause she doesn't dive much during the winter. everything else is bagged up and ready to go.

    California Lobster Diving

WK, You gotta go at night. The bugs come out of their holes after dark; and it seems like the small ones come out earlier than the big ones. As for catching them, 9 times out of 10 a bug takes off backwards. Aim your grab at the end of it's tail and it will jump into your hand. Of course...

    California Lobster Diving

I got 4 last night, at a La Jolla Reef, the surge was pretty challenging. What's with all the Crabs? I saw more of the Bright Red Crabs (Southern Kelp Crab?) then I have ever seen before.

    Earproblem prevention

Ask your doctor for a prescription for an otic solution of Cortisporin. A few drops in the ear after diving will usually kill anything nasty.
