    SUUNTO Service

Yeah, its only the stinger for which that is true. The other computers are all user replaceable batteries, and the instructions are in the user manual. The bezel and lens are removed to service the stinger, and for some reason I don't know, shops do not get certified to do it.

    SUUNTO Service

That price is about right. If you live near chicago, you can bring it to the shop and usually have it in less than a day. AFIK, there is still only one shop in the US that does the battery service.

I need a new dive buggy.

It actually tends to get better than posted mileage, something surprising from the box shape. I was getting up to 28 mpg while going cross country. Hosing it out is a big no-no. Up front, the dash isn't sealed, and there are no drain plugs in back. Also, the floor is kind of squishy from foam...

I need a new dive buggy.

From one Element owner to another: Welcome to the club. I haven't had a chance to take mine diving yet, but I love the plastic floor. There are a few forums out there for us, if you care, PM me. And remember... Screw Aerodynamics!

    Titanium Knives?

I've never heard of problems for divers, but... My friend has done some work as a blacksmith, and I was talking to him about pros and cons of Ti. Unlike most other alloys people work with, Ti alloy don't really bend. Steel and Al can be bent and formed at room temperature with pressure. Ti...

    Buddy breathing

No amount of training and practice will ever guarantee a person will not panic. It may make it less likely, but even a Navy SEAL could freeze up under fire (not that any would ever admit this ;) ). Panic is something that cannot be predicted. That's why it's so dangerous. Turning the valve off...

What kind of car/truck do you have?

I got a Honda Element this summer for diving. Plastic floors and waterproof seats, and 28 mpg highway, how could i say no.

Seasick on live aboards? Which location is the calmest?

Try the Nekton boats. The cruise the bahamas and go down to Belize I think. I've never been, but I've seen em. They are huge cubes in the water, big and ugly, but suppsedly effective. They do not have much lateral movement, as they are some sort of semi-hydrofoil design. Not sure on the...

    Buddy breathing

First off, I feel I need to explain my stance in the face of some attacks. First, there is no case where I would not attempt to buddy breath with someone. Second, the reason i don't like teaching bb is because of the psychology of panic. Assumptions: 1. I can train my divers to be as...

    Your dream gear.

I'm with you. Been eying those for a couple of years. Would need a CCR and appropriate computer to make use of the diver's lock.

    Buddy breathing

I never said that I thought an OOA diver should be pushed away and forced to do a CESA. In my experience, most OOA situations I have witnessed have involved a panicked diver. It is difficult to get beyond the panic, and it is not something that can be taught without forcing a fight or flight...

    Buddy breathing

I am proficient in CPR and AEDs, never needed to use either (knock on wood). I parallel park every day at home, as do many people living in cities. Now on to buddy breathing. ;) I don't teach it when I can avoid it. Why? Because I have seen it end badly more often than not. Nothing ever...

Are there any effects on bubble formation if giving aspirin to someone who just came up from a dive? Anyone know?

Some help with the MX10 please

OK, first, its been a while since I used an MX-10, so this could be wrong. I'm wondering what the ambient light is like where you are trying to practice. If the light is bright enough for a good exposure without the strobe, it shouldn't fire. If it doesn't fire with low light, then there is...

    Ditch and don

Always clear the reg first. You can stay down without seeing. Have a buddy there in case you need help. Once you are comfortable, put a piece of duct tape over the mask and try doing it without being able to see. No one makes you do this for rec diving anymore, but you will never be...

    SSI vs. PADI wich one.

I didn't notice if anyone metioned this... It doesn't matter what your OW cert is when you want to get more advanced. You can go back and forth between agencies if you wanted. I would agree with everyone that you should go with the instructor you are more comfortable with. Agency will not...
