I heard someone mention they read an article in Philippine Daily Inquirer earlier this week of a WWII submarine that was located somewhere here in the PI, has anyone else come across this article? Would be an interesting find indeed...
Thats a good question Lance....If it was sunk in relatively shallow waters I would speculate that the salvers have already chopped her up for scrap, if the whereabouts of the wreck are known. Sounds like a good research project though, any takers....?
Thorz, my condolences on the loss of your loved one, may I suggest you direct your inquiries to the Philippine Paradise Divers which is a link directly with topics and current events in the Philippines. Just perhaps someone can shed some light to shed more info....

Yes!! Andi there are a couple deep wrecks in Bo Dariagos (spelling) which is a short distance N. of San Fernando, La Union. Tim reports that depth is approx 75M and apparently one of them is a Sea plane carrier, or so he sais.......I've been itching to get up there and dive these sites but we...
There you go, my sentiments exactly....Youve got to scramble the brains to ensure a clean kill though....and no playing possum. They are quite tasty actually grilled skin and all, when cooked just peel skin back and spread the Mayo on top, Mmmmnnn Good, Sarap naman..
Any ideas on origin and possible century these are from? perhaps Siam pottery Thailand, they are red clay jars and on inside resembles flakes of gold. Recovered in Visayas, Philippines, 85M of water? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance....
If your passion is wrecks I suggest you slate both Coron and Subic into your dive plans. The wrecks in Coron are outstanding as Gunter points out, he has a beautiful island resort getaway that is very scenic indeed, just google Coron wrecks for more specific info. Subic is only 2 1/2 hour...
Dive at Boardwalk Dive Center Official Website - Boardwalk is a great facility to dive with, his DM's Dante and Jason are top notch and come highly recommended. Just a correction as to what Andy mentioned, the "Hellship" Oryoku Maru is also undivable when US Navy and MSC vessels are dooked at...
Glad to hear that Richard is recovering from the chamber treatments, hope he makes a full recovery. It seems to me that the Spearos down there should exercise more caution and plan better for contingencies, redundant gas supplies and more conservative depths if they choose AIR as there back...
Those depths on AIR? = Extreme Narcosis, HIGH PO2 in excess of 2.2 It's just plain suicidal, single tank; NO gas redundancy, foolish, not to mention CO2 buildup/excess = A one way ticket to DEPTH. End of story
First and foremost, our condolences to the bereaving family members of this incident. Its so unfortunate that this tragedy happened in the first place. This type of radical diving profile is absurd, yet there are extreme thrill seekers out there that will continuously push the limitations way...
Upon reading the post of the recent grounding of a vessel in Sarangani, it reminded me of a similar incident this past May as result of Typhoon Dante (Kajica) here in beautifull Subic Bay. A large area of reef and frequented dive site on West side of Mayanga Is. was severely damaged by a yet...

Battle report of SS-364, here's a bit of the history of sub that actually sank SAKURA MARU. The Sakura is a converted Japanese Whaler that was used by IJN for inshore ASW patrols. She rests upright in 54M in the shipping Channel of Subic Bay...
