You inspire us! My wife and I were certified in March with one of the goals being UW photography. Well, we just received a Canon S400 (4 MP) as a gift! I guess that solves our problem. Luckily, Canon makes housing for it. It should arrive tomorrow and we are itching to dive. Not bad since...
I apologize for yet another thread asking about a drysuit manufacturer. Since drysuits cost a ton, I figure doing a bit of research, asking questions and test diving the suits is the way to go before dropping a ton of cash (I need two...)
I recently got a chance to see and hear about Whites...
I had the same problem with swim shorts. The constant "hand down the wetsuit", bunching problem and the discomfort of creases in the short led me to neoprene shorts. I'm using a 0.5mm neoprene short. Unfortunately they are a little pricey but they are worth it. They are comfortable and dry...
I put went to WalMart and got a cheap shower rod to go across the tub/shower. The BC's and regs are hung up on the BC Hanger. Fins, Masks, snorkel will go into the second bedroom when they are dry. Most equipment will stay in a rubbermaid container until the next trip
My LDS told me the manufacturer will begin shipping the new PST E-series the middle of may. The guestimate price given was ~$280 for the HP80's. The tanks are suppose to come however you want them (K or din) unless thats just my LDS. As for deposits, he has not asked for one as a condition of...
Oversea, my OW dive was 52F. Not much warmer that where you are but I was fortunate (or sensible) enough to do my drysuit specialty as well. It makes a HUGE difference. Other classmates wore 7mm suit with a 5mm hooded vest. All had 5mm gloves.
Biscuit7 had a goind point about partially...
These are better than the "actual questions asked on computer Tech support lines" you see floating around. If this is the way pilots and mechanics interact with each other, you have to wonder...is flying safe:confused: Keep them coming!
It's great to see so many people from the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island on the boards. I just regret not getting into diving until I left Vancouver and moved south. However, it does give me an excuse to come home to visit. I read somewhere that BC was rated the top diving area for the...
I haven't had problems with cold hands (or head yet). I've been using 5mm neoprene for both. I'm curious as to how comfortable dry gloves would be  . MY dives have been around 50-55F and not cold issues yet. All over these boards, people have been raving about drygloves, and some...
frankenmuth_tom, how did the pool session go? I found the pool session in a drysuit exhausting due to the temp, but my first dive in the ocean dry was awesome. At least you have a suit. I'm still looking (but probably in denial about the large" investment" for a drysuit)! Keep us informed!
I spent a week and a half in Barkely Sound/Broken Islands for our grade 12 trip. At the time, it was canoeing and camping. Now that i'm certified, i've been itching to dive back home since I moved south a couple of years ago. Thanks for the report. There seems to be a lot of good info on the...
Hey Freeman,
My next suit to rent (test) will be the Hunter Pro you got. On Sat, my wife and I dove the DUITLS350. It was Ok. The Rockboot system is interesting (neoprene sock with a separate "shoe") The sock was a little big so there was a small amount of bunching and discomfort...
It's great to hear you enjoyed diving dry. We did our drysuit specialty with our OW and have never gone wet! I found it does get a bit of getting used to and initially I had to add weight to compensate for the added bouynacy (attributed to inexperience-not burping all the air out of the suit...
Julie,
I have the Oceanic Proplus 2 and have been really happy with it. I honestly do not know anything about the Sherwood so I can't give you a comparison. What sold us on the Oceanic was the big numbers and simplicity. The quick-connect feature is nice too. Let us know what you decide.
The advice most given on this board, and the one that helped me was... Relax. Be confident in your training, relax and most importantly have fun. Welcome!
Hi Peter,
My wife and I are also looking at the AOW. We were extremely happy with our OW instructors. We have already spoken with a few other instructors at our LDS and the Dive cons so we are pretty much set to go in a couple of weeks. The AOW includes a couple of specialties but I can't...
