Flying Scuba Tank Smashes Into Transfer Station

Where's the facepalm smiley when we need it? How friggin' hard would it have been for the jackass that dumped the tank to have just cracked the valve? At least if you're gonna dump something in a place you're not supposed to dump it, you can at least contribute a twist of the wrist to...

Best place to view Manta Rays

In Kona, with these guys. We did back to back Manta dives with them last year, had about 4 on the first night, and 12 on the second night. It was a tremendous experience.

    Re-sorting photos in Vista ...

I have Vista and PS Elements 5.0. If I understand your situation, here're a few options: Open PS Organizer. Highlight all the relevant pics. If time/date is truly the issue, right click on a highlited pic and select "Adjust Date & Time of Selected Items" or hit Ctl-J. You'll see some...

    Wrecks off Big Island?

I can't help you with wreck info, however I've been to Kona twice and dove with these guys. I can recommend them as a shop and day boat. Was very happy with them. I also get the sense that even if you're not diving with them, they'd know about, and point you to good info about wrecks...

    What else to do?

Bike tours in Hawaii, cycle Kona or take a bicycle tour completely around the Big Island. This is Kona side, but we did a 3/4ths day bike tour with this guy a few years ago. He was nice, knowledgable, had good equipment, etc. We liked it a lot. Started somewhere inland, and road to the...

    D80....View Finder ???

I have D80 and just last month used my new Ike housing for the first time. I totally get what you're saying about the viewfinder, although I managed ok. I have a fairly low profile mask, but it still took some mental adjustment to get used to not having my eye right up against the...

Memory card speed necessary (need answer by Thursday please)

What he ^^^ said. I also cannot quote the write speed of a camera, but I think it's highly unlikely that a point-and-shoot can zip off so many frames in such a short time that you can overload the buffer built into the camera and lose any pics or freeze up the camera at a critical point.

Pics from Kona - October 2009

Hi all, Went to Kona last month for a very quick couple of dives. Was the 2nd time with Kona Honu Divers. They run a good boat, we had great weather and cool critters. I am not much of a photographer, I still have a lot to learn about shooting in general and this camera in particular...

A letter to the open water diving community from the NACD

:read: While I believe quite strongly that overhead environments require special training, additional equipment and even greater care and awareness than OW, the OPs own post contradicts your statement, nereas. OP, what are the causes of death for the cave-trained divers? Without knowing...

    Greetings from SoCal

Hi guys, thanks for the quick replies. Mike, I'm in the South Bay, pretty close to 405 and Artesia Blvd. But I have a new job in Orange, so I'll probably be moving over that way sometime soon. Dave, I'll check out the local forum, thanks for the point.

    Greetings from SoCal

Hello SB peeps, Although I registered last year, I haven't been back here since, lol. Life gets in the way sometimes. I'll be trolling around, looking for info on lenses and flashes and destinations. I'll try to contribute to the community where I can. But in just browsing a few...
