I bought my gear with the idea that someday I may try tech diving without having to repurchase any equipment.
Most dive computers with Nitrox algorithms will be good for some tech diving. If you want to go really deep then you will need one that also offers Trimix.
With the setup I purchased...
A fellow scouter that I came in contact with on Saturday mentioned that his Eagle Project is Oct 10 at Blue Lake. He is going to be replacing all of the broken boards and pallets on the walkway with new pressure treated wood or trex planks. If he gets enough donations he will replace the entire...
We always make it a trip to go to Dive Addict's anniversary sale and every year I buy stuff I don't need. They have the best dive shop I have ever seen. My brother and I plan on taking our regs to them to get serviced in a month or so.. They are also the only Dive Shop that I have been to that...
AOW is not really "Advanced Open Water". It's just more instructor lead dives in a number of different specialties. I took AOW after I got certified just so I could have 5 more dives with an instructor. I felt much more comfortable in the water after AOW and I also realized how much I love night...
I have seen dive shops around the Green River in Colorado and Utah promote they offer river diving classes. I bet it must be similar to drift diving, but in murky brown water.
Back to the OP... I took my OW cert with their gear, and switched to long hose my first dive out of class. I spent some time making sure I can deploy the reg quickly and I still do here and there. Some instructor may want you to use the short hose so you know how to do it if you are anyplace...
The only other one that I know of in the vicinity is Sunny Cove where was at, but its across the channel and a nice very long swim to the islands from there. Also according to Utahdiving.com you cannot deploy your dive flag while swimming across to the islands because it is a boating lane or...
Before my Venture crew implemented Scuba as a regular activity I had about 70% attendance. When we have our monthly Scuba activity we get 100%+ attendance. We even get divers from local clubs going with us.
1) What problems do you run in to on a regular basis? The biggest issue I have after...
OK, that is messed up. We took our scout crew down a few days before our dive to tour the Dam and I asked the 2 Police officers standing there and they said that they do not allow diving from the dock any more. I was then told by one of our DMs that you can. Later that evening while talking...
I dove Flaming Gorge about a week ago. We did not have a boat which you will need to dive the islands. They will not let you dive from the Visitors center anymore. You will be asked by the Police to go somewhere else. They are worried someone will plant explosives on the dam. You can however...
We have a boat, but we were told last week that you cannot dive close to the visitors center or swim from the visitors center to Gilligan's island because park rangers are scared of someone entering there and planting explosives on the dam.
Our local dive club will be there Saturday diving with...
I just purchased a Drysuit without testing it and luckily it only had 2 small pinhole leaks that were easy fixes. I'll reiterate what piikki said and make sure you not only try it on, but test it in the water (in a pool preferably) before you purchase it.
It looks like Typhoon CnK Tech is a UK...
I am heading out to Flaming Gorge next week and was wondering if there are any other places besides Mustang Ridge and Gilligan's Island that are good places to dive. I will also be doing some spear fishing so any special tips on where best fish are would be great.
I've never been to Flaming...
I wasn't really interested in Scuba Diving a few years ago. I have had chances to get certified before, but since my wife hares water I figured there was no reason to get certified. One day one of the members of my Venture crew expressed his interest in getting Scuba certified since the rest of...
I hit Meadow on my way back from a Sand Hollow Dive last weekend. It definitely was the best dive that weekend since Sand Hollow's vis was around 5'-10' where ever we went. We only dove pool 1 which is the closest to the parking lot. We were too tied after that dive to lug our gear to pool 2. If...
Thanks for the response guys. I always leave around 800-1000 psi in my tank before I store it. I guess I won't worry too much until I get the results back from the re-inspection after the tumble.
