Trip Report Cocos Island - December 2023

I was on @rongoodman 's boat and it was like a quarantine vessel. We had a couple things rip through most of the passengers at various points during the voyage. "Luckily" I got one of the two illnesses from another passenger who was already sick while we were dining out in San Jose a day or...

    Northern Virginia Checking In

Many many moons ago in a galaxy far far away...we had a couple relatively active clubs and started a regional forum here on SB. I think most of those folks have moved on, but (if their website is any indication) Patowmack Divers still seems to be alive and kicking. You might try reaching out...

Has anyone purchased a Nautilus Lifeline lately?

Just guessing here based on my limited use of one - protection and mounting. There is a belt loop slot on the back of the silicone one and on the one I posted above. The one above also has a coily thing with a clip on it if you wanted to clip it to something to avoid dropping it.

Has anyone purchased a Nautilus Lifeline lately?

They sell another pouch for it that might be more to your liking. I can't vouch for it since I have never used one.

Flying into San Jose Del Cabo w/Cam gear...

Here's another thread on it - Profiling of Divers at Los Cabos Airport TL;DR - one of my buddies has paid thousands over several Socorro trips because he keeps getting nailed with his A1 and Nauticam setup.

    Need something 3D printed?

I have something, but it isn't dive related (windscreen lever for a motorbike). Let me know if that's something you'd consider printing and I'll shoot you the details via PM.

Has anyone purchased a Nautilus Lifeline lately?

LIke @Dan said, Nautilus will let you use one for free (kind of required if memory serves) during your trip. Also, unless this has changed since I was there in 2021, Nautilus will credit you the marine park fee as an onboard credit that you can use on booze, shirts, stuffed mantas and other...

Teric owners, have you required repair or replacement service?

Ok, back from Cocos and time for an update. The update is...both Terics are still doing the same thing as before Cocos *shrug*. Teric 1 was rapidly discharging in storage before Cocos and is still doing it. Teric 2 was NOT rapidly discharging before Cocos and is still NOT rapidly discharging...

    Cocos island in October

I was on Ron's trip and I think I used my 5mm on maybe 3 dives. I only saw temps below 80F on 2 dives the entire trip. Most of the folks on my panga switched to skins and/or shorties in short order. I finished the week in a rashguard with a Lavacore vest and shorts and other than a couple...

Profiling of Divers at Los Cabos Airport

@boulderjohn - from the Nautilus website: Mexico Customs and Cameras Unfortunately, we have received recent reports of isolated incidents where guests have been charged taxes for bringing their camera housings into Mexico. This is a transgression of your rights as an international passenger...

Maybe somebody else can confirm, but I read a few other threads that suggested flying into Mexico City and then on to Cabo was one way to avoid this issue.

Bonaire - is it worth it?

Not to hijack, but same with Cocos. Was there from 8/26 to 9/5 and only had 2 dives that were below 80 F. Average temps were in the 83 range. :(

Profiling of Divers at Los Cabos Airport

I had a buddy that got hit with something like $1200 for a Sony A1 in a Nauticam housing. He's had it happen at least 2-3 times.
