Question How much of an IP drop is acceptable?

Ok, back from the walk/sniff fest. Here’s the basic issue. An IP gauge on the inflator hose will not read accurately while air is moving through the regulator because that movement creates a Venturi effect which effectively lowers pressure in the inflator hose. The faster the air is moving past...

    BCD Self-inflating

Just from a functional perspective, only thing that fits is two power inflators that both auto inflated. I'd get a cheap one from DGX and verify with it. Other way to verify the ones you have is to take the inflator off the corrugated hose, hook it to the reg set, pressurize, and put the...

    Inflator valve leak when disconnected

Hi all, I have been doing a ton of drills with my rebreather and noticed something with my dry suit. I disconnected (once by accident and once on purpose) the inflator hose. When I did it at the very beginning of the dive with the dry suit close to empty, i got a small leak from the Schrader...

Final decisions on my SeaSkin drysuit

You could search here and find equal amounts of support for either one. My Sitech work flawlessly and don't leak. I've heard of the apeks, low profile specifically, leaking.

    Review Seaskin Nova drysuit

It leaked before my neck got in the water. Felt it at he waist. I first noticed it when my inflator valve went underwater. Maybe that's the culprit? I def heard a his from somewhere as I got in the pool other then from my shoulder valve. That's an idea. I don't think it's like a small hole though.

    Trim Issues

It is possible, but I really dont think so. I can inflate the BC fully and not get any bubbling just sitting there. I also did a spray test with soapy water. No sign of leaking. 🤷‍♂️

“Fairly” Uncontrolled Ascent - Please help me understand what went wrong

Now that you're back home, you might take your gear into the shallow end of the swimming pool and see if you're able to have the same thing happen again. My early scuba instruction had us oral-inflating during our pool dives--wouldn't allow us to use the power inflator during our pool sessions...

Question How much of an IP drop is acceptable?

The point of measuring an IP drop is some worry about breathing from a regulator that sees that drop. But is not the regulator ALSO attached to a port, so experiences the same venturi effect? I don't buy the venturi argument as being either large enough , or imporatnt enough to consider.

Could these threads on a plastic zip cause my drysuit to leak?

Thanks for advice. I’ll give this a shot when I get a chance.

    BCD Self-inflating

That is a good suggestion. I have a 3rd inflator that I use for my side-mount setup. It does not self-inflate. I think I am going to take it off and try it first. If it still inflates, I know it is not the inflator.

Adding an inflation valve to a surface drysuit

Paddling drysuits are meant to be more breathable but water resistant for quick immersion at/near the surface. They are not intended for diving at depth. Swimming a few feet deep, for example, is just a tad over 1 ata. Go to 10m/33ft and you are at 2 ata, and so on and so forth. Then you...

“Fairly” Uncontrolled Ascent - Please help me understand what went wrong

I'm probably repeating what has already been said and I have not read all (most) of the comments. The same happened to me a while back when I noticed I kept having to dump air to remain neutral. It was a slow leak on my BC inflator valve. I disconnected the hose and all was OK. It was later...

Question: I got my reg/BCD serviced a year ago and haven't dived with it...is it safe to use?

You will be fine. Keep in mind that the rental gear will be in worse shape than whatever you bring yourself  . I would just take the gear and plan the first dive to be a shallow one just to be sure, especially after not diving for a while. What you do need is to check your dive computer...

    First Stage Environmental Sealing

LOL! Yes, I know. But, they are useful for some things - like my drysuit inflator reg. When I starts leaking a tiny stream of bubbles, I just swap in a new one. At $5, I don't even feel bad about it. They generally last me a few years. (I don't use my drysuit inflator bottle all that much).

Santi Thermovalve air leak into drysuit

Seems like a warranty issue. I’d strip it from the suit and put it in a vat of water whilst connected to an inflator hose and see if that gives you any ideas.
