    What's in the upgrade?

Well, when it comes to happy diver, I’ll probably just be using the laughing face. I swear he is on something…:D

That’s generally why I use the laughing face.

Buying new vs used - pros & cons?

The Narked@90 blinky HUD is about $1200 through Kiss. The $500 Fathom seems a much better option. The friend who recommended it to me loves it.

    What's in the upgrade?

I use the angry face generally. Or laugh if it’s really stupid.

Buying new vs used - pros & cons?

The Fathom blinky HUD was recommended to me. Runs about $500. I’m told they sell a lot to Kiss owners.

Buying new vs used - pros & cons?

I have very limited vacation time. All training is done on weekends at sites 2-4 hours away. That factors into my training decisions.

    What's in the upgrade?

Even Facebook doesn’t offer a thumbs down or “dislike.”

Buying new vs used - pros & cons?

Yes I can deal with the 50s no problem. I already have two sets and SM them. Cave diving when I’m putting tanks on in the water wouldn’t be a problem with the 80s. For boat diving, I’d just clip bottles off to down lines so o wouldn’t climb up with 80s. As for getting OFF the boat with 80s, I’ll...

Buying new vs used - pros & cons?

I If I want to continue to train with my instructor, I have to choose a unit she teaches. That means Kiss or the original Optima. I’ve gotten close up looks at the Optima. Too big, bulky, and heavy. Kiss Classic is too heavy. Not interested in a SM rebreather. That leaves the Orca Spirit...

Failed my Day 1 PADI Pool Training

You need a better, more patient instructor, as well as a smaller class. One on one is best. I had a very rocky beginning, somewhat similar to that of Lynne that @Neilwood linked to earlier. Just keep going. I’m a baby tech diver diver five years later…

Buying new vs used - pros & cons?

First CCR. Experienced people are two hours away (which is not much of a drive for me) and available via phone, etc.

Buying new vs used - pros & cons?

What are the pros & cons buying used vs new? The unit I’m looking at for next year (Kiss Orca Spirit) doesn’t come up used that often. I’ve also been told there have been some changes so don’t buy a used unit more than a year or two old. I am open to used, depending on what’s available. I...

How much weight is too much?

If you need the weight, you need the weight. Don’t get caught up in the contest of he who wears the least weight, wins. Getting some of the weight off your BC can help if you need a lot. Something like a DUI weight harness is good. I needed a lot of weight single tank drysuit. The DUI harness...

    Parts Delays For BC

Suggest you read this thread linked below. All sorts of stuff is out of stock/delayed. A dive shop owner I ran into over the weekend told me just about everything ScubaPro is out of stock. If you think the shop is lying to you, you’re likely wrong...

    Scubapro Ladyhawk for Guy?

If you read the description on ScubaPro’s website, it says it’s designed and sized specifically for women divers and gives some specifics. As a gal, I can tell you that trying to fit into gear made for men doesn’t often work. I’d expect the reverse is true. You need to try it on for more than...

Kevlar on a drysuit? Good idea?

Not an entire drysuit, but my made to measure DUI FLX Extreme has kevlar knee pads. Very nice especially when kneeling in shallow water to get my SM tanks on. No issues at all with them.
