My Father and I are planning on driving down to Bahia de los Angeles at the beginning of August. We are going in a 2 wheel drive Ram 1500 with all our gear with a lockable truck bed.
Any tips on driving down?
Any hotel recommendations on where to stay in Bahia?
What were your highlights?
I’m about to go to Thailand for a Liveaboard and work trip. Sadly due to the work trip I need to bring a biz casual wardrobe (no shorts or flip flops allowed, the horror)
Plan is three bags:
Roller carry on size : corporate ware and prizes for work. Plan is to check it at the left luggage in...
I find the lights to be more important than sensor size.
When I shoot in 4k video with the GoPro 7 I need to put what I shot up on a 4k OLED TV to actually fully see the detail shot, they have done a surprisingly nice job with this one. Will you get better video with a larger sensor? sure, if...
I have been refining my GoPro setup since the 5 and I’m finally really happy with it and my results.

I dive with a silk base layer from REI that is for wicking. I used to dive a Bare SB for my mid layer which was fine but sadly I out grew it (out not up at my age) and switched over to the DUI Midlayer which seems to work pretty well for me at 54F diving Breakwater in mid January.
I’m using a...
Grew up North of Toronto, My wife is from Kingston. Good to know there is some interesting wrecks to dive down that way.
We were diving a lake about an hour north of North Bay - mostly just to see what was there after fishing it for years.
Thanks for the tips.
Did some diving up in northern Ontario last year with my Father. Crazy thermalcline up there at 26ft dropped like 5C below that.
My parents live north of Toronto and hope to do some diving up there this summer when I visit
I’m a 6’ 220 Lbs Male usually diving a dry suit in Northern California and dive steel 100 most of the time in Monterey.
It’s the buoyancy for the drysuit that requires the extra weight, and well me :)
With a 5mm wetsuit and my travel rig in San Diego in 60F water over Christmas with a steel...
If you are in the Bay Area, I highly recommend Any Water Sports in San Jose. They stock halcyon bp/w which seem to be very popular in Monterey. I own one and for cold water dry suit or heavy wetsuit diving they are great. Other brands I am sure are just as good, just no direct experience with...
Just setup my warm water rig, going as light as I can.
3.6 lbs scuba pro titanium mk25t and 620ti with yoke connector and miflex hose (got a great deal on this set used, wouldn’t have bought it new)
8 lbs hydros pro bcd
8-10 lbs of lead (haven’t dived it warm yet but figuring in there)
Highly Recommend Barefoot Cay in Roatan. Really great place, small boutique hotel with Mary's place literally a stones throw.
My Father and I went in June 2018 and was fantastic - Diving | Roatán Luxury Resort & Private Cay Diving | Barefoot Cay™ Resort
I recommend the dining package as the...
I find the 4k Stills I get from the GoPro 7 to be pretty solid, I would rather shoot the video then get stills from it for most of my uses. I edit it video as part of my job so I am biased there but I feel it captures more of what it feels like to dive rather than still.
However for Macro...
I have been Using GoPro's to shoot while diving since the GoPro 2.
I have shot with the 3, 4, 5, 6 and now 7.
They just did an update about 2 weeks ago which dramatically helped the 4k battery life on the 7 Black when I did 3 dives on two batteries in San Diego. The ultra smooth I think really...
