That's my question too... will the country be open for travel and how much quarantine will be necessary to make the trip happen. My thoughts re: travel in covid time is to go to one place and stay there for the duration of the trip so you are minimizing your exposure to people and chances to spread the virus. I suspect the first 10 days of your trip will be spent in quarantine, then to choose one place with limited interaction with people for the rest of your trip.

Plenty of good advice and discussion so far. Let me just add my recent flying experience here..... I live in Manila and traveled to Cebu on Dec 7 to visit some family, returned Dec 14, just before the typhoon hit the Visayas.

At this point, I can almost promise you that your flights are going to be constantly rescheduled.

Our Dec 7 flight changed times 3 times, from 12nn to 6pm then to 10pm. Our Dec 14 flight changed 6 times, from 12nn to 3pm, 4pm, 6pm, 8pm, 10pm, and finally departed 11:45pm.

It appears that the domestic airlines (PAL, Cebu Pacific, AirAsia PH) have been consolidating flights to minimize financial loss, and might even be consolidating flights based on destination - maybe an attempt at control of movement due to pandemic.

Totally agree, way more relaxing that way with a possibility of side trips if conditions permit.
I truly hoped to go in February and spend a few months in So.Leyte, so sad, if it's not the covid it's a natural disaster...P Burgos was directly hit by Odette😭

Super Typhoon Rai(Category 5).

Hate to think what kind of damages to the few dive resorts along the coast of Sogod Bay!
Lots of pics on FN showing the destruction especially along the coast , search: "rescue So.Leyte " I don't even want to think about the coral gardens along Bunga, Sto.Rosario etc😭

Just a quick "update", you can find more on facebook, but Sogod, Souther Leyte, Bohol, Cebu, and Negros islands all got hit really hard by Typhoon Oddette. Many many dive bangkas (boats) were completely destroyed. Expect dive ops to be down for a while.

Thoughts and prayers to the residents, dive operators, and everyone else affected in the area.

If I have time later, I will try and post some pictures as a new thread.

Very interesting point.

Hi all. I had to cancel my Philippines vacation because the government of the Philippines required it. I was so disappointed that I didn't sign on here again until today.

Thanks so much for your advice. In the future I will be able to use this advice in my itinerary.

The country is scheduled to open on 10th Feb with not much string attached.
Time to plan again.
Two things to consider:
1. A lot of Pinoys want to come home and visit their families.
2. Easter is on 15th Apr and the demand for domestic or international travel will be huge around that time. Avoid it if you can.

Never travel to the Philippines over Easter, Christmas or Chinese new year, you have so many overseas workers returning home that the prices get pushed up and all the internal flights are full.

On every trip there you need to build in a couple of days for the Philippine Fuddle factor, transport does go wrong regularly, flights get canceled, trucks breakdown and buses don't run and road trips can take 3 times longer than you expect. I once was 3 days late back to work as I bought a ticket on a bus for a sunday from El Nido to PP when I first arrived, but on that sunday no buses were running and there were no Jeepneys which meant I missed my flight to Manila the next day and then my flights back to HK
