Hello,
Anyone have a way to approximate the guide number for video lights like the Kraken Hydra series lights? Looking at the Hydra 4000, in burst mode the say 6000 lumens, do you think that would make a dent if fired with an Inon D-200?

TIA,
Arew

The D-200 is GN20. It has far more lumens than 4000 but strobes are not measured in that way. I would say that the Hydra 4000 is not even close to a D-200. The D-200 has a very wide, smooth, even spread of light over 110 degrees circular coverage.

That is kinda of what I was saying, not sure that the burst mode would put a dent in the D200, maybe soften up some of the shadowing from a single strobe while offering some video illumination when required

If you mean using them together you will most likely (depends on your settings of course and your strobe positioning) not even see the Hydra. You could set up the system so that you have very little strobe light if you want but in general you will see something like 1 million more photons with the strobe than with the light.
