I've came out with ss back plate weights.
They come in a set of 3.5 lbs.
They fit dive rite and hollis back plates.
$42 per set. Message me if your interested.

what thickness are they? wondering if you could stack two pairs to get closer to the weight of the DSS plates without being too unwieldy
 
Yes. Some heavier friends are stacking 2 sets. I like to keep some ditchable weight so I keep 2x 3lbs in my pouches and use 1 set. Another customer is stacking 2 sets for his rebreather.
